Job description

Amazon's Operations Planning Team (OPT) within the Global Engineering, Maintenance & Sustainability (GEMS) organization is seeking a detail-oriented, analytical, innovative, hands-on, and customer-obsessed Senior Program Manager (Sr. PM) with a strong background in communications, capable of providing program management support in a fast paced and highly ambiguous environment.
The Sr. PM will lead resource planning strategy, operational planning processes, and tool development for our global engineering organization

This role serves as the owner of the OP processes with focus on NA teams and drives resource planning accuracy across NA teams supporting Amazon's worldwide infrastructure expansion.
In this role, you will partner with Project Management Office (PMO), Finance, Global Engineering Insights & Software Tools (GEIST), and business leadership to ensure GEMS can deliver on our commitments.
Key job responsibilities
OP1/OP2 Planning Collaboration: Collaborate with the OP Lead on operational planning processes and build planning standard work with consolidated templates
Partner with PMO, Finance, and functional teams to ensure data integrity, provide monthly (often weekly) updates to leadership on planning activities, establish validation checkpoints, and align resource planning with business objectives
Process Standardization & Continuous Improvement: Establish escalation paths; drive continuous improvement initiatives; and reduce reliance on manual workarounds and shadow planning tools
A day in the life
As a Senior Program Manager in Amazon's Operations Planning Team, your day revolves around orchestrating multiple high-impact initiatives across Ops GEMS. Your day typically begins with reviewing key metrics and preparing for strategic planning meetings, where you'll lead discussions on resource allocation and operational priorities

Throughout the day, you'll navigate between analyzing data in Excel and BI tools to identify optimization opportunities, collaborating with Finance on resource planning, and engaging with senior stakeholders to drive alignment on critical projects. You'll spend time coordinating with the PMO and GEIST teams to streamline processes, while maintaining real-time tracking of various program milestones. The role requires agile prioritization as you respond to leadership requests, facilitate cross-functional working sessions, and ensure strategic planning cycles stay on track.

Your ability to synthesize complex information, influence diverse stakeholders, and drive operational excellence makes every day both challenging and impactful in shaping Amazon's operations.
