Job description

The IT Manager role is assigned to client environments with mid to high complexity and is responsible for managing and overseeing the daily operations of each individual client's information technology (IT) department. This includes the maintenance of computer systems, networks, and applications, as well as providing technical support to users. With their expertise in technology and modern strategies, they are dedicated to streamlining internal processes and enhancing customer satisfaction.

The IT Manager works to ensure data security and compliance with relevant laws, policies, and guidelines. They are also responsible for developing strategic plans and budgeting for hardware and software purchases. Additionally, the IT Manager provides valuable insights for optimizing business operations with the use of new technologies.

The IT Manager Supports the Clients by:

  • Providing strategic planning through yearly budgeting
  • Running checks throughout the environment to identify potential issues and prevent them
  • Providing consultation and guidance throughout the year to achieve goals
  • Providing project management services to ensure service delivery
  • Ensuring documentation standards are being kept up for each assigned client
  • Ensuring best practices are being followed throughout each environment
  • Planning, implementing and maintaining effective IT systems to support the client's business needs.
  • Ensuring that all necessary software, hardware and network systems are up to date and running optimally.
  • Analyzing existing IT infrastructure and recommending upgrades or applications necessary to increase efficiency or security of systems in place.
  • Working with other departments such as marketing, finance, HR, etc., to ensure required resources are available for successful projects completion or data sharing purposes within a client’s organization where needed and applicable.
  • Providing training on new processes and technologies being implemented within a client-facing environment
  • Generating reports related to system performance, usage trends, and cost analysis for review by executive leadership

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the Stability of assigned client environments
  • Understand when things are not working correctly in an environment
  • Identify where potential risks are due to configurations
  • Should be naturally curious - dig into accounts without being asked and review assigned environments
  • Should be able to easily identify deviations in best practices in an environment
  • Maintain the Performance of assigned client environments
  • Escalate high priority items and prioritize workday accordingly
  • Evaluate environments for chronic/recurring issues and investigate source
  • Be primary point of contact for clients and be able to intelligently discuss any issues in the environment and how they would need to be remediated
  • Lead client consultations by gathering information from the client to provide the correct path forward for their business
  • Client agreement reviews
  • Client budgeting for future projects & business needs
  • Additional issues/responsibilities that may arise

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field or 5 years of equivalent work experience
  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience in managing and directing small and large-scale IT projects
  • Advanced knowledge of IT infrastructure, networks, databases and systems
  • Ability to delegate or escalate tasks as necessary to ensure optimal client satisfaction
  • Ability to actively manage multiple tasks, simultaneously moving items forward for clients

  • Virtualization technologies such as Azure Virtual Desktop, Hyper-V, VMware, or Citrix
  • Backup systems such as Axcient, Acronis, Datto
  • Security protocols such as firewalls, antivirus software, and intrusion detection systems
  • Storage area networks (SANs) and network-attached storage (NAS) solutions
  • Database management systems like Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server
  • Cloud computing infrastructure with Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure
  • Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted clients
  • Attention to detail when documenting troubleshooting steps taken or changes made in resolving technical problems
