As an SDE on the BigMesh team, you'll build centralized traffic management and networking solutions handling security, authentication, authorization, load balancing, and routing for Amazon's most critical services. If you're new to any of these, our onboarding will get you up to speed. Come help make developing software at Amazon more seamless and flexible!
Key job responsibilities
Own the full software development lifecycle for Service Mesh features, from design through implementation, testing, and production readiness.
Write high-quality, maintainable code in Golang, Rust, or Java that meets Amazon's engineering standards.
Collaborate with product managers, designers, and senior engineers to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions for traffic management and connectivity.
Design and build networking features (load balancing, routing, throttling, authentication) used by thousands of Amazon services.
Mentor junior engineers through code reviews, architecture discussions, and knowledge sharing.
Identify and drive process improvements that increase team efficiency and system reliability.
Participate in on-call rotation to resolve production issues and proactively mitigate operational risks.
A day in the life
- Ship code for high-impact Service Mesh features used across Amazon
- Debug complex connectivity and dependency issues alongside partner teams
- Review designs and guide Away-Team engineers on best practices
- Advise stakeholders on technical trade-offs and effort estimates
- Triage and resolve production issues during on-call rotation
About the team

As part of this team, you'll be responsible for the ensuring we continue to develop better connectivity solutions for our Amazon teams and simplify/remove the hurdles the builders face as they navigate the complex networking architecture at Amazon.
The team is always looking for ways to improve the engineer experience through process improvements and automation. You'll have the opportunity to contribute to these efforts and help shape the team's engineering practices.
By joining this team, you'll play a critical role in delivering the core functionality that powers Amazon's internal connectivity solutions

Your contributions will have a direct impact on the shopping experience of millions of Amazon customers worldwide.
