Job description

Amazon Books is seeking an Sr. Social Media & Influencer Manager to lead the strategic development and execution of our organic social media and influencer marketing programs across Amazon Books and Kindle's social channels. This role will own the end-to-end social strategy for 8 social handles serving over 6 million audience members, driving brand affinity, follower growth, community engagement, and business impact through innovative content and influencer partnerships.
The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with deep expertise in social media marketing, influencer program management, and cross-functional marketing collaboration. You'll work in a highly ambiguous, rapidly-changing environment where social platforms evolve constantly and brand risk management is critical. This role requires balancing creative innovation with data-driven decision making, while consulting with multiple internal stakeholder teams and managing external agency partnerships.
This is a high-visibility role that will shape how millions of readers discover and engage with books across Amazon. You'll have the opportunity to build scalable programs, establish measurement frameworks, and present strategic initiatives to senior leadership.
Key job responsibilities
Strategic Social Media Leadership: You will own the strategic vision and execution for Amazon Books and Kindle's social media presence across Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and Threads. This includes developing comprehensive content strategies that drive follower growth, engagement, and business outcomes while maintaining brand consistency and managing risk across all channels. You'll establish the strategic direction for how Amazon shows up in social conversations about books and reading, ensuring our content resonates with diverse reader communities.
Influencer Marketing Program Management: You will build and scale Amazon's influencer marketing program for Books and Kindle, managing relationships with content creators (via agency) and establishing scalable processes for influencer recruitment, campaign execution, and performance tracking. This includes overseeing influencer talent budget allocation, negotiating partnerships, and working with agency partners to maximize reach and engagement. You'll create playbooks and toolkits that enable efficient influencer program operations while ensuring brand safety and compliance.
Cross-Functional Consultation and Stakeholder Management: You will serve as the social media and influencer marketing expert for internal stakeholder teams, providing strategic consultation on campaign development, content strategy, and social best practices. This includes partnering with product teams, editorial, events, marketing, and other business units to integrate social strategies into broader marketing initiatives. You'll translate business objectives into social-first campaigns and ensure alignment across multiple teams and priorities.
Agency Partnership and Vendor Management: You will manage relationships with external our social media agency and vendors, providing strategic direction, performance feedback, and ensuring deliverables meet quality standards and business objectives. This includes overseeing agency workflows, reviewing content submissions, and optimizing agency partnerships for efficiency and impact.
Measurement, Analytics, and Reporting: You will establish measurement frameworks that connect social media activities to business outcomes, developing KPIs and reporting mechanisms that demonstrate ROI and inform strategic decisions. This includes conducting regular performance analysis, identifying optimization opportunities, and creating executive-level reports and presentations for senior leadership reviews. You'll own quarterly business reviews and develop artifacts that communicate social program impact to VP-level stakeholders.
Content Strategy and Campaign Development: You will develop innovative content strategies and social-first campaigns that drive awareness, consideration, and engagement across the customer journey. This includes creating tentpole campaign strategies, seasonal content plans, and always-on programming that keeps audiences engaged. You'll leverage social listening, audience insights, and platform trends to inform content development and ensure relevance.
Community Building and Engagement: You will foster authentic relationships with community members, influencers, and brand advocates, creating opportunities for meaningful engagement and user-generated content. This includes developing community management strategies, responding to audience feedback, and building programs that strengthen customer loyalty and brand affinity.
Enterprise Social Architecture: You will contribute to company-wide social media strategy development, establishing best practices, governance frameworks, and strategic approaches that can scale across Amazon's Books organization. This includes supporting sub-brand social strategies and providing thought leadership on emerging social trends and platform capabilities.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 6+ years of professional non-internship marketing experience
- 7+ years of social media marketing experience with demonstrated strategic leadership
- 3+ years of influencer marketing program management experience
- Proven track record of developing and executing successful social media strategies that drive measurable business results
- Experience managing agency partnerships and external vendors
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in social media measurement tools and analytics platforms
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience driving direction and alignment with large cross-functional teams and agency partners
- Experience designing and executing joint marketing plans with strategic alliance partners with global footprint

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
