Job description

Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) Opening– Norwalk Hospital, Connecticut

Norwalk Hospital of Nuvance Health, is seeking a full-time Certified Nurse Midwife, to join our OB/GYN program in Norwalk, Connecticut. This is a brand new position due to practice growth. Norwalk is located about one hour northeast of New York City along the Long Island Sound in suburban Fairfield County, CT. Our team of midwives, backed up by our OB/GYN hospitalists, take first call and will follow up with patients in the office. The midwives are First Assist on C/Sections. We offer a competitive compensation package, including comprehensive benefits. Normal schedule is one (24-hour) call and two (8-hr) clinic shifts (A 40-hr work week). Full and part-time available. Norwalk hospital sees approximately 1,100 deliveries a year and has a Level II NICU, as well as excellent specialty backup, including Maternal Fetal Medicine and Gyn Oncology. The team of five Certified Nurse Midwives cover about 330-400 deliveries per year. The CNMs provide 24-hr phone triage for the clinic. This is an employed position with Nuvance Health Medical Practice covering two offices. The CNMs also deliver patients from the Norwalk Community Health Center. Established in 1893, Norwalk Hospital is a 366-bed community hospital with a Level II Trauma Center. As a teaching hospital, we are affiliated with the University of Vermont College of Medicine, Ross University, American University of the Caribbean, and Yale School of Medicine. A side a hill with a commanding view of the Long Island Sound, Norwalk Hospital serves a varied and attractive region of Southern Connecticut. The city of Norwalk enjoys both proximity to New York City culture and access to a wide array of outdoor activities. Hiking, biking, fishing, and boating in both state/regional parks and preserves along the shore are some of the local hobbies of residents. Connecticut Magazine recently named South Norwalk as the "hottest" nightspot between Boston and New York City with a number of outstanding restaurants and theater venues to choose from. Surrounded by a number of quaint towns with scenic rolling hills, the area offers a variety of excellent housing and school options. Norwalk Hospital has been recognized by Healthgrades as a "Top 50 Hospital" for 2024! Norwalk Hospital is now part of Nuvance Health. Job Requirements:

  • Connecticut RN license and Master's degree required
  • Graduate of an approved Certified Nurse Midwife program and current certification by the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB)
  • State of CT RN, Certified Nurse Midwife license, CT State Controlled Substance and Federal DEA Registration required
  • 2+ years CNM experience required
  • Spanish skills preferred but not mandatory
  • Flexibility to cover Paid Time Off (PTO) of other employees. 24-hour call schedules (7AM to 7AM) seven (7) days a week and holidays in addition to two 8-hour office days scheduled per week from 8:30 AM - 5 PM (coverage schedule subject to change)

Salary: $125,000 - $155,000, relative to experience.
