Job description

Amazon Security's Vulnerability Management Service (AVMS) manages the entire vulnerability management (VM) program across Amazon's retail business special teams, and AWS. AVMS operates at an unprecedented asset scale, as well as diversity of business lines ranging from Cloud, Health Care, Payments, Devices, Fulfillment, and even drones!
AVMS's mission is to be Earth's best VM team, keeping customers safe and enabling software teams to build cool new innovations securely. We are looking for a Senior Manager of Security Engineering to take on this mission and our scale to make a profound impact across Amazon and its external customers.


Are you interested in building and leading a focused top-notch security team responsible for securing
assets from IoT to Drones. Do you get excited about the challenge of harmonizing differentiated security objectives into common solutions and processes. Do you like to analyze, play with data, and innovate with AI.

Are you excited about getting into deep details of how software, hardware, and devices work as well as how vulnerabilities impact them. If so, this role is for you. This role requires understanding how software is built, businesses operate, to scale processes, assess risk, and make deep data driven decisions to manage vulnerabilities.

Further, this role requires an innovator that wants to change the status quo to improve outcomes for customers.
Key job responsibilities
As the Senior Security Manager in AVMS organization you will be responsible for managing the detection and mitigation framework of the Amazon vulnerability management system.
You will create vision, charters, mechanisms, processes, and solutions that ensure 100% of vulnerabilities that could impact Amazon customer's are detected and resolved. You will work cross functionally across software teams you own and others to create security solutions for Amazon

You will work within and across multiple security organizations to drive outcomes. You will have an infectious desire for securing customers, and analyzing through data which actions need to be taken every day.
You will lead an innovative team of security and software practitioners to create our new framework to detecting, mitigating, and remediating vulnerabilities across Amazon's footprint.


A day in the life
Your work will be dynamic and impactful. You will start your day with metrics and insights that lead the direction of your teams daily execution. You'll attend cross functional meetings and support sessions designed to resolve and prevent vulnerabilities from taking hold in the Amazon environment.

Further, you'll spend a portion of your time sitting with other peer security leaders to understand how you can shift your organization to help them achieve their goals of securing the latest and greatest Amazon products. Should it be required, if danger comes knocking, you will be there to have your teams jump in to protect our customers.
The majority of your creative time will be focused on creating multi-vulnerability detections, doing vulnerability analysis, and ensuring the most important risk is being managed and remediated every day.


About the team
The AVMS organization is an international team with sites covering Seattle, Austin, Sydney, New York, Arlington, and London. The team is a mix of security engineers, software engineers, and data roles chartered together to tackle the problem of high scale vulnerability management.
