Location: Dallas Fort-Worth, TX (Mansfield area)
Employment Status: Full Time | Direct Hire
Compensation: $84,000 - $98,000 per year + Annual Bonus Eligibility
Travel: This role will be spent mostly on client sites and could require up to 60% overnight travel.
On-Call: Rotation may be required based on location and client needs

The Opportunity

The Lead Control Systems Technician II provides advanced technical support and field coordination across control system projects and service activities. This role leads installation, startup, commissioning, and troubleshooting efforts while ensuring work is completed safely, accurately, and in alignment with project requirements.

This position plays a key role in guiding field execution, mentoring junior technicians, and supporting project teams during critical phases such as commissioning and system turnover. The role requires strong hands-on expertise across PLCs, HMIs, instrumentation, and integrated control systems, along with the ability to provide field-based problem solving and leadership.

This position is ideal for experienced technicians who enjoy hands-on leadership, complex troubleshooting, and working in fast-paced industrial environments.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and support installation, startup, and commissioning of control systems
  • Perform and oversee instrument loop checks, calibrations, and system verification
  • Lead troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of control systems
  • Execute and support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and commissioning activities
  • Wire instruments, panels, and associated control system components
  • Read and interpret P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation, providing feedback on field conditions vs. design

Technical Leadership & Execution

  • Provide field leadership and direction to technicians and project team members
  • Demonstrate advanced troubleshooting capabilities across PLC and HMI systems
  • Support and contribute to control system design understanding and field implementation
  • Maintain accurate documentation of work performed in alignment with QMS
  • Apply knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and control systems during field execution
  • Support integration of control systems with IT infrastructure and industrial networks
  • Pursue and apply relevant certifications and technical training opportunities

Collaboration & Communication

  • Communicate clearly and professionally with customers, project teams, and leadership
  • Follow all customer-specific standards, procedures, and safety requirements
  • Provide accurate updates on task progress, risks, and field conditions
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and commissioning teams to ensure successful project delivery
  • Support and mentor junior technicians through hands-on guidance and knowledge sharing

Project & Field Coordination

  • Complete assigned tasks accurately, on schedule, and within budget
  • Understand assigned scope and escalate issues when outside of scope
  • Coordinate field activities and support alignment with project schedules and priorities
  • Where applicable, direct and oversee work of junior technicians on-site

Quality, Safety & Process

  • Adhere to company policies, Quality Management System (QMS), and safety standards
  • Promote and enforce safe work practices, including proper use of PPE
  • Deliver accurate, high-quality work with strong attention to detail
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in field execution and processes

What We’re Looking For

Education & Experience

  • Associate degree in Engineering Technology, Computer Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Typically 3–7+ years of relevant industry experience
  • Proven experience in a lead or senior technician capacity (3+ years preferred)

Skills & Qualifications

  • Advanced troubleshooting skills across PLC and HMI systems
  • Strong hands-on electrical and mechanical aptitude
  • Experience with instrumentation, loop checks, and calibration processes
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation
  • Familiarity with industrial networking and IT/OT integration concepts
  • Proficiency with tools such as multimeters, signal generators, and hand tools
  • Strong communication, organization, and time management skills
  • Ability to lead field activities and support team execution
