Job description

As a Software Developer on the Amazon Photos Mobile team, you will solve complex software engineering problems at scale. You'll design and implement the ongoing evolution of the Amazon Photos experience in both iOS and Android, deliver high quality results and produce exemplary code. You'll be a champion of best practices. The features you deliver will be at "Amazon Scale" and be loved by users worldwide.
Amazon Photos helps consumers preserve and re-live their memories. The service comes with unlimited photo storage for Prime members and apps are available on iOS, Android, Web, Desktop, Fire Tablet & Fire TV. The service is also integrated into Alexa devices such as Echo Show and Echo Spot. Amazon Photos is the latest digital offering to consumers released on the heels of the Amazon Music and Amazon Video offerings. We have ambitious goals to scale growth and adoption of the service around the world and delight our customers with a great product.
Key job responsibilities
- Architect, design, develop and deploy cross-platform features for Amazon Photos mobile apps, working with back-end teams.
- Contribute best-in-class programming skills to develop highly innovative, consumer-facing mobile apps.
- Write clean, maintainable code and perform peer code-reviews.
- Work with other team members to investigate design approaches, prototype new technology and evaluate technical feasibility.
- Work in an Agile/Scrum environment to deliver high quality software.
- Establish architectural principles, select design patterns and then mentor team members on their appropriate application.
- Help define and implement standards and promote best engineering practices.
- Analyze and optimize applications to maximize speed and scale, factoring in mobile network latency and bandwidth constraints.
About the team
- Our stack is centered around React Native
- We collaborate actively with our iOS and Android Native teams and our back-end teams.
- Performance and OS integration are key for this team. We have an experienced team that includes several senior engineers and of Mobile development experience.
- Our code is well tested by our dedicated team of experienced QA engineers who maintain our suite of UI integration tests.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- Experience with Android, iOS or other mobile application development or testing

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
