Description of Work
The Department of Biological Systems Engineering (BSE) at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln is a nationally recognized, comprehensive program with over 100 years of excellence in teaching, research, and extension.
As a Recruitment Coordinator and Academic Advisor, you will:
  • Create and implement a strategic plan for marketing and recruitment of students into the Agricultural Systems Technology, Agricultural Engineering, and Biological Systems Engineering majors.
  • Conduct individual campus visits, school visits, and participate in statewide recruitment events to promote the Department and recruit prospective and transfer students.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with high schools, community colleges, counselors, teachers, Extension Educators, alumni, and industry. stakeholders to strengthen recruitment pipelines
  • Coordinate on-campus recruitment activities and collaborate with the Recruitment Committee, Student Ambassadors, and other university partners to support engagement efforts.
  • Advise undergraduate students in one or more of the assigned majors and support advising efforts across the Department.
  • Provide support for recruits during the application and admission process, including new student enrollment, and manage the undergraduate recruitment data and reporting functions for the Department.

Some travel is required, including evenings and weekends as needed for recruitment activities.

Minimum Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, technology, marketing or related field(s) plus two years of experience in recruiting, public relations, student services, sales, marketing or related field.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to utilize online platforms to provide advice/assistance to others.
  • Valid driver's license with ability to meet driver eligibility requirements.

Preferred Qualifications
The following qualifications are preferred, but not required:
  • Familiarity with academic programs relevant to the position.
  • Experience working in higher education, public relations, marketing, or related field.
  • Marketing, recruitment or sales experience.
  • Knowledge of university and college admissions procedures.
  • Knowledge of relevant career opportunities for graduates.
