Job Description

Altium is seeking an experienced Enterprise Pre-Sales Field Application Engineer (FAE) to support strategic enterprise customers throughout the technical sales process. In this highly visible, customer-facing role, you will partner with Sales Account Managers to demonstrate how Altium's connected electronics design platform enables organizations to accelerate product development, improve engineering collaboration, and streamline PCB design from concept through manufacturing. As a trusted technical advisor, you will engage with engineering teams, engineering management, IT organizations, and executive stakeholders to understand their design environments, identify business challenges, and recommend enterprise solutions that improve productivity, collaboration, and digital transformation across the electronics development lifecycle.


Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with Sales team members to develop and execute technical strategies for strategic accounts and complex sales opportunities
  • Lead technical discovery sessions to understand the customers' current environment, engineering processes, and business objectives
  • Deliver engaging product demonstrations showcasing the Altium Platform collaboration capabilities, and connected design workflows that demonstrate measurable business and technical value
  • Provide technical consultation on PCB design methodologies, electronics development processes, design collaboration, component management, and engineering data management.
  • Develop technical proposals, solution architectures, and implementation strategies that align with customer business goals.
  • Support RFP/RFI responses with technical content and solution recommendations.
  • Collaborate closely with Product Management, Product Marketing, Customer
  • Success, and Engineering to communicate customer requirements and influence future product direction.
  • Deliver technical workshops, customer training, and executive presentations.
  • Assist customers with software evaluations, implementation planning, integrations, and best practices.
  • Conduct competitive technical positioning against other PCB design and collaboration platforms.
  • Maintain deep knowledge of electronics industry trends, PCB design technologies, digital engineering, cloud collaboration, and enterprise software solutions.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in Field Applications Engineering, Sales Engineering,
  • Solutions Engineering, or Enterprise Technical Pre-Sales.
  • Experience supporting enterprise software sales within the electronics, PCB design, semiconductor, embedded systems, or engineering software industries.

Strong understanding of:

  • PCB design workflows
  • Electronic product development and lifecycle management
  • Product lifecycle and engineering collaboration including Schematic capture PCB layout and Supply Chain information
  • Component libraries and lifecycle management
  • Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA)
  • Enterprise software implementation and integrations
  • Experience delivering technical demonstrations, customer workshops, and executive presentations
  • Ability to communicate effectively with design engineers, engineering managers,
  • IT teams, and executive decision-makers
  • Strong analytical, consulting, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to travel up to 30% as required


Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with Altium Designer, Altium 365, or comparable PCB design platforms
  • Experience with enterprise-level engineering software such as PLM, PDM, MCAD, ECAD, or requirements management systems
  • Knowledge of cloud-based collaboration platforms and SaaS enterprise applications
  • Familiarity with APIs, software integrations, and enterprise authentication technologies
  • Programming or scripting experience (Python, SQL, REST APIs, or JavaScript) is a plus
  • Experience supporting customers in aerospace, automotive, industrial automation, medical devices, telecommunications, or consumer electronics

Additional Information

The expected annual pay range for this position is $135,000 - $180,000. This position is also eligible for bonus opportunities. Please note that final offer amount will be dependent on geographic location, applicable experience, and skillset of the candidate.
