Alternative Fuels Technician
Renewable Energy Infrastructure Services

Salary: $25.00–$50.00 per hour, based on experience

OUR CLIENT
On behalf of our client, we are seeking an Alternative Fuels Technician to join a growing team focused on designing, building, and maintaining advanced renewable and alternative energy fueling infrastructure. This full-time, day-shift role (Monday through Friday) supports a network of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) fueling stations across the region.

As part of an experienced technical service group, you will ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of mechanical and electrical systems across multiple site locations. This includes troubleshooting, performing preventive maintenance, conducting inspections, and completing component replacements as needed to optimize station performance and uptime.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
Minimum of a high school diploma or GED; post-secondary technical training or certification would be an asset.
3–5 years of mechanical, electrical, or instrumentation experience—preferably in CNG, RNG, LNG, LCNG, or related alternative energy systems.
Working knowledge of compressors, dryers, storage tanks, pumps, valves, and control systems.
Ability to diagnose and repair electrical issues including motors, conduit, relays, frequency drives, sensors, and PLC logic.
Proficient with Microsoft Office and able to document service activity using digital tools and maintenance software.
Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and time management skills, with a proactive approach to preventive maintenance.
Valid driver's license with clean driving record and availability to travel to sites as required.
Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform scheduled preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs on CNG and RNG station equipment, including compressors, dispensers, pumps, actuators, dryers, and piping systems.
Conduct electrical diagnostics and repair work involving wiring, motor control circuits, transducers, PLCs, and sensors.
Inspect, maintain, and adjust mechanical systems such as valves, filters, heat exchangers, and intercoolers for safe and optimal performance.
Identify and execute both corrective and proactive maintenance actions to prevent system downtime.
Maintain detailed service records and accurately log data such as pressures, voltages, and flow rates while tracking work performed and parts used.
Ensure fueling locations meet high standards of safety, appearance, and cleanliness, including light maintenance of surfaces and grounds.
Collaborate with other technicians, dispatch, and operations staff to support station performance and reliability.
Participate in periodic on-call rotation for emergency response and support activities outside of normal business hours.

WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU?
Competitive hourly wage ($25.00–$50.00 based on experience)
Full medical, dental, and vision benefits after 30 days
PTO and company-matched 401(k) plan
Tool allowance, company vehicle, and mobile device provided
Career advancement and certification support with ongoing technical training and tuition assistance
Dynamic work within an expanding alternative energy service network dedicated to safety, innovation, and sustainability
