What is an Aloha POS technician?

An Aloha POS Technician is a professional who installs, maintains, and troubleshoots the Aloha Point of Sale (POS) systems commonly used in restaurants and hospitality businesses. Their duties include setting up hardware and software, providing technical support to users, and ensuring smooth operation of the POS system. They may also train staff on how to use the system and perform regular updates or repairs to keep the system running efficiently.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Aloha POS technician, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Aloha POS Technician, you need strong troubleshooting skills, knowledge of point-of-sale (POS) systems, and experience with hardware/software installation, often supported by relevant IT certifications or technical training. Familiarity with Aloha POS software, networking fundamentals, and tools such as remote desktop utilities is typically required. Excellent customer service, communication skills, and the ability to work under pressure are valuable soft skills for this role. These competencies ensure efficient system maintenance, quick resolution of technical issues, and positive client experiences in demanding retail or hospitality environments.

What are some common challenges Aloha POS technicians face when supporting restaurant operations, and how can they be addressed?

Aloha POS Technicians often encounter challenges such as troubleshooting hardware failures during peak service hours, resolving software integration issues, and providing timely support to minimize downtime. These situations require strong problem-solving skills, clear communication, and the ability to remain calm under pressure. Building a solid understanding of both the Aloha POS system and the specific workflows of each restaurant helps technicians quickly identify root causes and implement effective solutions. Proactive maintenance and regular training can further reduce the frequency of unexpected issues.

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

The Facilities Technician shall be responsible for completing forecourt maintenance services at both our Company-operated and Customer-operated facilities within their designated market.  The forecourt maintenance services shall be focused on fuel dispenser services, but also include tank-top equipment, tank monitoring system, point-of-sale, and general forecourt maintenance refresh services. The Facilities Technician shall maintain all required training/certifications to complete their trade services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for the completion of forecourt maintenance services, with the emphasis being on fuel dispensing equipment and underground storage tank-top equipment.  In addition to completing repairs to this equipment, the Technician shall also ensure the imaging elements on each dispenser are in good condition and meet Aloha’s quality standards – and replace such equipment as needed.
  • Provides maintenance services for the POS and tank-monitoring systems, in addition to general backcourt maintenance services that include general carpentry, plumbing and lighting.

  • Resolves deficiencies identified during the inspections by either completing the needed repairs or by recording within our system of record for subsequent repairs by a third-party contractor.
  • Communicates to their Supervisor any facility deficiencies that rise to the level of creating a safety, security, or compliance matter.
  • Completes all facilities maintenance tasks in a professional and safe manner and handles all materials in accordance with their material safety data sheet.
  • Completes the manufacturer equipment certification(s) and completes their refresh training as required.  Such training/certifications shall ensure that the Facilities Technician is highly skilled for the services they are responsible to complete.
  • Performs all work in a professional and customer-centric manner.
