Allied Valve Inc. is seeking a skilled Manual Machinist to join our Riverdale, IA team. What You'll Do
As a Manual Machinist, you will perform precision machining operations on valve components, actuators, pressure seal equipment, and other industrial flow control equipment used throughout the power generation, oil & gas, chemical, and industrial sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate conventional horizontal lathes and manual machining equipment
- Manufacture and repair critical components to customer specifications
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions
- Select proper tooling, feeds, and speeds for various materials
- Perform precision measurements using calipers, micrometers, indicators, and other measuring equipment
- Inspect finished parts to ensure quality and dimensional accuracy
- Maintain equipment and work areas in accordance with safety standards
- Assist in training and mentoring less experienced machinists
- Support department operations and workflow as needed
What We're Looking ForRequired Qualifications
- 2+ years of manual machining experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Ability to independently set up and operate conventional lathes
- Blueprint reading and interpretation skills
- Understanding of machining practices, shop math, and quality standards
- Experience using precision measuring instruments
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Acme threading
- Vertical Manual Lathe experience
- Experience operating mills and other manual machine tools
- Valve repair or field machining experience
- Experience machining Gate, Globe, Plug, and Check Valves
- Leadership or mentoring experience
