Position Overview

The Community Living Center (CLC) RN will serve as a staff nurse and will evaluate clinical practice and initiate change based on current concepts and findings from research and/or evidence based studies.

Duties include (but are not limited to):

  • Performing diagnostic and/or therapeutic procedures appropriate to CLC's practice setting;
  • Providing leadership in interpreting, supporting and implementing Medical Center and Nursing Department philosophy, policies, procedures, standards, guidelines and quality improvement processes; Accepting responsibility and maintaining accountability for actions and continued professional and personal growth;
  • Serving as a consultant in clinical practice;
  • Communicating and working effectively with others;
  • Initiating and leading groups of personnel and interdisciplinary groups;
  • Establishing relationships with professional and/or health related groups with the community.
We Seek RNs Who Possess:
  • Good organizational skills which enable completion of work;
  • An ability to assume leadership duties;
  • Ability to establish effective communication with residents, families and other members of the interdisciplinary team.

The RN should have a working understanding of cultural transformation, creating a home-like environment, a dedication to improving the quality of life for the residents and provide physical, mental, emotional and spiritual support and medical care for residents and/or significant others during the time surrounding death.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements

  • United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
  • Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE)
  • 1-2 years of nursing experience
