Job description

Allara is a comprehensive women's health provider that specializes in expert, longitudinal care that supports women through every life stage. Trusted by over 60,000 women nationwide, Allara makes expert healthcare accessible by connecting patients with multidisciplinary care teams that have a deep understanding of hormonal, metabolic, and reproductive care. Allara provides ongoing support for hormonal conditions like PCOS, chronic conditions like insulin resistance, and life stages like perimenopause, helping patients see improved health outcomes. As one of the fastest-growing women's health platforms in the U.S., Allara is bridging long-overlooked gaps in healthcare for women.
The Opportunity
We're seeking a Consulting Psychiatrist to launch Allara's Psychiatry Service Line, as Allara Health expands its care model to include psychiatric services for women navigating the intersection of hormonal and mental health, and we're looking for a board-certified psychiatrist to support the launch right from the ground up.
This is a consulting engagement supporting the clinical infrastructure for Allara's psychiatry service line. You'll work closely with our clinical and operations leadership to design the protocols, safeguards, and hiring standards that will define how we deliver psychiatric care to our patients. Once launched, you'll treat your own panel of patients as well as provide supervision and case consultations.
Location: Fully remote within the U.S.
Your Impact
Pre-Launch
  • Develop clinical protocols for the treatment of mild to moderate depression, anxiety, and PMDD, including medication management and therapeutic modalities
  • Design safety and escalation protocols for behavioral health
  • Build a hiring rubric and assessment framework for PMHNP candidates
  • Participate in initial PMHNP interviews alongside our clinical team

Post-Launch
  • Allocate 50% of your time to treating patients experiencing mild to moderate depression, anxiety, and PMDD
  • Supervise PMHNPs
  • Provide case consultations
  • Support on ad-hoc escalations

Required Qualifications
  • Board Certification: Active board certification in Psychiatry through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) or the American Osteopathic Board of Neurology and Psychiatry (AOBNP).
  • Licensure: An active, unrestricted, and unencumbered medical license in at least one of the following states: California, Florida, New York, or Texas. An IMLC license can be considered if willing to obtain an IMLC state mentioned above.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of post-residency clinical experience as a practicing psychiatrist, with a focus on outpatient care.
  • Women's Mental Health: Demonstrated experience treating conditions at the intersection of hormonal and mental health, including depression, anxiety, and PMDD.
  • Supervision: Experience supervising or collaborating with psychiatric nurse practitioners (PMHNPs) or other advanced practice providers.
  • Systems Building: Ability to translate clinical rigor into scalable protocols, safety standards, and hiring frameworks in a fast-moving environment.
  • Communication & Webside Manner: Exceptional written and verbal communication, with a strong ability to connect with patients virtually and deliver empathetic, evidence-based care.
  • Technical Proficiency: Comfortable navigating multiple screens and tools such as EMR, Gmail, Google Calendar, Zoom, and scheduling platforms.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience in a telehealth or high-growth care delivery environment.
  • Experience designing behavioral health safety and escalation protocols.

Time Commitment
  • Pre-Launch: 5 hours/wk from September-26 to February-27
  • Post- Launch: 10 hours/wk from March-27 onwards

What Allara Offers
  • 1099 Contract: The flexibility and autonomy of an independent contractor arrangement
  • Compensation: $200/hr.
  • 1099 Longevity Recognition Bonus
  • Fully Remote: Work from anywhere in the U.S.
  • Flexible Scheduling: Set hours that fit your life, not the other way around
  • Malpractice Insurance: Comprehensive coverage provided at no cost to you
  • Mission-Driven Work: Help transform the standard of care for women living with conditions that have historically been underdiagnosed and undertreated
  • Collaborative Provider Network: Connect with and learn from a community of skilled, like-minded Allara clinicians
  • Inclusive Culture: Join a supportive, diverse team that values innovation, equity, and belonging
