What are some common challenges faced by professionals in HCP Marketing, and how can they be addressed?

A frequent challenge in HCP Marketing is effectively engaging healthcare professionals (HCPs) within strict regulatory guidelines while delivering meaningful, relevant content. Navigating compliance requirements, building trust with HCPs, and differentiating messages in a crowded marketplace are key hurdles. Successful marketers address these by staying informed on industry regulations, leveraging data-driven insights to personalize communications, and fostering collaboration with medical, legal, and regulatory teams to ensure campaigns are both compelling and compliant.

Both roles require healthcare knowledge but differ in daily tasks and work environment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an HCP (Healthcare Professional) Marketing Specialist, and why are they important?

To excel in HCP Marketing, you need a solid understanding of healthcare industry regulations, marketing strategy, and often a degree in marketing, communications, or life sciences. Familiarity with CRM platforms, data analytics tools, and compliance systems (such as Veeva or Salesforce) is highly desirable. Strong communication, collaboration, and project management skills help you build relationships with healthcare professionals and navigate complex teams. These competencies are critical for delivering effective, compliant campaigns that engage HCPs and drive organizational goals.

What is HCP marketing?

HCP marketing refers to marketing strategies and activities specifically targeted at Healthcare Professionals (HCPs) such as doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and other medical practitioners. The goal is to inform and engage HCPs about products, services, or therapeutics relevant to their practice, often with the intent of influencing prescribing behavior or raising awareness about innovations in healthcare. HCP marketing typically involves educational content, scientific data, conferences, digital campaigns, and direct engagement, all while adhering to strict industry regulations and ethical guidelines. This specialized field requires a deep understanding of medical topics, compliance standards, and the needs of healthcare professionals.

Job description

Axena Health, Inc. is a women's health company redefining the standard of care for pelvic health conditions through clinically proven, non-invasive treatments. Our physician-prescribed Levaย  Pelvic Health System empowers women with effective, supervised pelvic floor muscle training at home, combining cutting-edge motion-based technology with evidence-based treatment and personalized coaching. We envision a future where pelvic health is prioritized, destigmatized and effectively treated - because women deserve better. Getting that message to the right clinicians, in the right way, is what this role is all about.

We are looking for an experienced HCP marketer to own our HCP marketing function end to end. You will inherit a strong foundation and be expected to evolve it, bringing your own ideas, building scalable processes, and shaping how Axena Health shows up with clinicians as we grow.

You will partner with a growing field sales organization, Medical, Legal, and Regulatory stakeholders, KOLs, and external partners to bring campaigns, content, and assets to life. Some days that means developing a strategic campaign to drive provider awareness. Other days it means rolling up your sleeves in a design tool to get a sales piece out the door before a conference.

If you are a builder, a collaborator, and a marketer who understands the HCP environment deeply, we want to hear from you.

Responsibilities include:

  • Own the development and execution of the Axena Health HCP marketing strategy

  • Gather customer and market insights to inform outreach strategies, increase customer conversions, and generate more qualified leads.
  • Track, analyze, and report on HCP marketing performance across channels, using data to optimize campaigns and inform strategy
  • Build and maintain a structured feedback loop with the field team, proactively surfacing what reps are hearing and translating that into marketing action
  • Drive HCP lead generation through paid media campaigns, website, email journeys, and events, continuously optimizing content and conversion pathways across channels
  • Serve as a primary marketing partner to Medical, Legal, and Regulatory to ensure timely, compliant development and approval of HCP assets
  • Own new hire sales training from a marketing perspective, developing materials and facilitating sessions that equip reps to have strong conversations with clinicians
  • Support ongoing field upskilling as the team grows, ensuring marketing and sales stay tightly aligned on messaging and priorities
  • Manage end-to-end execution of conferences including materials, attendee coordination, lead management, and pre and post conference communications
  • Identify and cultivate KOL partnerships in partnership with clinical, collaborating with clinicians to develop educational content that advances provider awareness and understanding
  • Manage relationships with vendors and freelancers, including creative, communications, and sales materials partners, to support efficient execution across HCP marketing programs

  • 5+ years of experience in healthcare, medical device, pharmaceutical, or regulated space
  • Experience developing HCP marketing strategies across paid media, digital, and sales enablement
  • Thrives in a growth stage company where the playbook may not exist
  • Strong project management, multitasking, and decision-making skills
  • Comfortable facilitating training and presenting confidently to a sales audience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to travel up to 20%

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of the HCP selling environment, including how field teams operate, how clinicians make decisions, and what barriers exist when marketing in this space
  • Experience with marketing automation and CRM tools
  • Metrics-driven marketing mind with eye for creativity and attention to detail
  • Experience developing thought leadership programs including KOL identification and relationship management
  • Familiarity with briefing digital marketing stakeholders on email deployment, audience segmentation, and campaign execution
  • Hands-on proficiency with tools like Canva, Stripo, or comparable design and email platforms
