Job description

Master's Degree Required - US work authorization needed/no visa sponsorship available - starting June 2027
At AlixPartners, we solve the most complex and critical challenges by moving quickly from analysis to action when it really matters; creating value that has a lasting impact on companies, their people, and the communities they serve. By understanding, respecting, and honoring the needs of our employees, clients, and communities, AlixPartners actively promotes an inclusive environment. We strongly believe in the value that diversity brings to our experiences and are committed to the perpetual enhancements of initiatives, policies, and practices. We hold ourselves accountable by providing the space for authenticity, growth, and equity for everyone.
AlixPartners has embraced a hybrid work model to provide flexibility and support our employees' work-life integration. Our hybrid model combines a mix of in-person (at client site or AlixPartners office) and remote working. Travel is part of this position, but the frequency may vary based on client, team, and individual circumstances.
What you'll do
AlixPartners, a leading global consulting firm, is seeking Summer Analysts to support our Risk Analytics team, part of our Risk Advisory service line.
Our Risk Advisory interns apply accounting, finance, and data analytics skills to help clients address critical business issues. You will work closely with AlixPartners' experts to support complex matters including commercial litigation, business valuations, and investigations. You'll turn messy, high-volume data into clear, defensible insights that stand up to scrutiny and inform high-stakes decisions.
Examples of work within our Risk Analytics service line include:
  • Apply finance, accounting, and operational concepts to frame analyses and test hypotheses in high-stakes client matters
  • Extract, reconcile, validate, and analyze data from complex enterprise systems to build a clear, audit-ready data story
  • Build and manage large, complex datasets-transforming raw inputs into structured, analysis-ready tables and repeatable workflows
  • Develop structured client-ready materials that translate analyses into actionable insights using visualization and statistical modeling
  • Use industry-leading analytics tools to deliver fast, meaningful insights through innovative, interactive visualizations across high-volume data

This description is not designed to encompass a comprehensive listing of required activities, duties or responsibilities.
This role is based in the New York office, with a hybrid work model. Paid relocation is not available.

  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, and/or economics concepts relevant to data-driven risk analysis
  • Ability to query and work with relational databases using SQL (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, or equivalent)
  • Working proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, R, VB.NET)
  • Experience using analytics, data transformation, and data visualization tools (e.g., SSIS, Alteryx, Tableau, Power BI)
  • Knowledge of applied AI/ML concepts relevant to analytics (e.g., supervised/unsupervised learning, NLP, clustering, RPA)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Prior internship, research, or project experience in data analytics or a related field

Requirements
  • Currently pursuing a master's degree with an expected graduation date between December 2027 and August 2028, with ability to participate in our internship program from June 2027 to August 2027
  • Must be enrolled in a master's degree program in Business Analytics, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics or a related field with a basic knowledge of accounting, statistics, financial and econometric modeling
