Job description

Mission Statement

Position Summary

The Maintenance will be utilized for housekeeping and grounds maintenance at Lafayette. His/her responsibility will be working to maintain a clean and safe environment for the residents and staff. Assure that the floor is ready every day for Community Integration service’s needs.

Essential Functions

  • Maintain a clean, safe and hygienic environment for residents and staff.
  • Sweep and mop entry hallways in units’ floor daily, pressure wash the entrances of facility.
  • Strip, buff and wax unit floors, kitchen and offices area as needed.
  • Responsible for turning over vacant units. Duties include painting, minor repairs & other janitorial cleaning as needed.
  • Maintain an inventory of janitorial/maintenance supplies, which include paint, building materials and tools as needed for this area.
  • Able to perform basic plumbing, electrical work around the premises.
  • Weed and prune landscaping daily, select and plant landscaping as needed.
  • Report any inappropriate behavior on the grounds to program manager.
  • Pick up, deliver and store supplies as needed.
  • Transportation of residents as needed to appointments in the community.
  • Maintain the vehicles, fill up gas tanks, report repairs as needed.
  • Conduct monthly fire drills.
  • Supervise the maintenance of all the shelter logs and forms.
  • Update monthly OSHA forms.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned by management.
  • Provide Maintenance/housekeeping for Community Integration Services Program.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School education or equivalent.
  • Must possess a valid Class C California Driver’s License.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write in English.
  • Minimum one-year experience in housekeeping and grounds maintenance.
  • Able to work with minimum supervision.
  • A driving record without any moving violation in the last five years.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

  • Knowledge of proper usage of cleaning chemicals as complying with CAL/OSHA regulations.
  • Knowledge of mopping, stripping, buffing, and waxing floors.
  • Knowledge of ground maintenance including weeding, pruning, and plant selection.

Working Conditions

Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as brooms and floor cleaning equipment, and reach overhead. Ability to operate floor cleaning equipment, blower, lawn mower, and paint sprayer. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
