Location: Hawthorne, California
Reporting To: Olivia Alegria
Compensation: $30.00 / hour
Description
Venturi Astrolab, Inc. (Astrolab) is pioneering new ways to explore and operate on distant planetary bodies. We are singularly focused on designing, building, and operating a fleet of multi-purpose commercial planetary rovers to extend and enhance humanity's presence in the solar system. We are seeking motivated, creative, and exceptional people to join our world-class team.
As an intern with the Lunar Terrain Vehicle Services (LTVS) team working on providing rover services to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), you will play a key role in developing the systems engineering products and plans for the program. Your responsibilities will include developing Verification and Validation (V&V) plans for LTV subsystems, developing infrastructure and processes for Astrolab's requirements and verification tracking systems, and supporting the Human Systems Integration team in their products. You will work closely with the Systems Engineering and Integration (SEI) team as well as hardware responsible engineers (REs). You will report to the Astrolab LTVS Certification Lead.
This internship opportunity will begin in spring or summer 2026 and will last between 3 to 6 months.
*Employment in this role is contingent on Astrolab being selected as a winner of NASA's LTVS program.*
What you'll do:
  • Collaborate with REs to build up individual V&V artifacts for program and NASA review
  • Work with Jira or other systems engineering tools to implement necessary processes to manage the V&V process, deliver key verification deliverables to NASA, and track the progress of the effort
  • Implement additional tooling (scripts, report generation, etc.) to enable clarity in review for Astrolab and NASA team members
  • Implement Interface Control Documents (ICDs) for the additional NASA systems LTV will interface with
  • Support the creation and iteration of deliverables to meet NASA instructions.
  • Participate in the Human Systems Integration (HSI) workflow, including collaborating with REs on flowing human systems requirement implications to their systems; planning, executing, and post-processing findings from human-in-the-loop (HITL) evaluations; managing & tracking human factors design feedback/concerns from ticket creation through closure; using Figma and other rapid prototyping tools to produce interactive user interface (UI) wireframes, and supporting cadenced discussions with stakeholders such as Safety, Suit Vendor, and NASA to ensure a safe & efficient user experience (UX) for our astronauts

What you'll bring:
Basic Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a closely related STEM field
  • Experience supporting engineering, robotics, aerospace, or other complex technical systems
  • Experience coordinating technical information or deliverables across multiple teams or stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with systems engineering processes, including requirements management, verification and validation, or interface management
  • Familiarity with Jira or similar project or systems engineering tools
  • Experience working with space, robotics, automotive, or other complex vehicle systems
  • Experience preparing technical documentation or communicating technical information to engineering teams

Benefits and Perks
  • Join a team of best-in-class engineers building the foundation of planetary surface exploration
  • Weekly lunch stipend, plus complimentary on-site snacks and beverages
  • Monthly on-site social hour with food and drinks
  • Relocation support and housing stipend for interns who relocate within 10 miles of the office
