POSITION: SEASONAL MAINTENANCE WORKER

DEPARTMENT: PUBLIC WORKS

SALARY RANGE: $22.00 - $25.00 / HOUR DOE

SUMMARY:

This is an unskilled or semi-skilled position involving horticulture work with specific responsibility for caring for and maintaining flowers, trees, and shrub beds at City properties. The main emphasis will be on maintaining annual floral displays and other landscape maintenance duties. May be assigned to work in other areas if needed. The position reports to the Maintenance Supervisor.

WORK SCHEDULE: 29 HOURS/WEEK.

  • Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday | 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Maintains all flowers and shrubs at the City's properties.
  • Performs work associated with established watering, fertilizer, and rotation schedules of summer flower baskets and pots.
  • Treatment of diseased or infested plants.
  • Assists in the maintenance of outdoor flower displays.
  • Assists in the upkeep of the City's bronze statues.
  • Ability to perform a variety of semi-skilled maintenance tasks in various conditions.
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written assignments.
  • Ability to safely operate pick-ups, ATVs, and UTV equipment.
  • Ability to safely operate backpack blowers, trimmers, and other miscellaneous power equipment

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid Colorado Driver’s License. Experience in greenhouse or landscape maintenance

preferred. The City of Black Hawk conducts post-offer drug/alcohol testing as a condition of employment per the City’s Drug and

Alcohol Use Policy. In addition, post-offer background investigations and physical exams are also required. For more information
