About the Shipping Operator:

The Shipping Operator is responsible for handling and preparing completed product for shipment. The Shipping Operator palletizes, loads heavy materials and ALWAYS completes each task in a safe manner, no exceptions. This role is one of our most important and the last line before our completed product arrives to our customers!

This position is responsible for following a quality of checks and safety standards while being attentive to detail validating each shipment and product. This role also works closely with other departments while understanding their process and the same quality of standards being upheld as the product leaves our facility.

This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, loves a good game of Tetris aligning safely the finished products on all outbound carriers before leaving the facility. The Shipping Operator enjoys working outdoors across all seasons, rather than a desk role. Someone that takes pride in keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes. Every day is different and that's what makes it exciting, you will be helping C&B Piping, LLC, continue to run like a well-oiled machine and have fun doing it!

What you'll be Doing as the Shipping Operator:

  • Load, unload, and safely align products for shipment.
  • Operate forklifts, hoist, and other equipment safely.
  • Verify shipment accuracy by reviewing PO's, Bill of Ladings, and all shipping documents as attention to detail is a must.
  • Verifying and securing loads are SAFE and properly loaded for transport.
  • Inspecting products for quality and correct quantities are shipping to the correct location.
  • Working with other departments coordinating to meet all shipping schedules and deadlines.
  • Maintain housekeeping keeping all things cleaned and organized within the shipping yard and general area.
  • Follow all safety, quality, and company policies.
  • Partnering with other departments to improve processes and ensure product accuracy every time.

Work and/or Education experience for the Shipping Operator role:

  • High school diploma or GED Preferred.
  • Experience in a shipping or heavy machinery environment is a plus!
  • Ability to read shipping documentation, measurements, and attentive to details.
  • STRONG safety awareness for yourself and others, no exceptions.
  • Ability to safely operate forklifts and/or heavy equipment - Certification is a plus!
  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Distribution, fabrication, manufacturing, and/or construction experience a plus.

Physical and Work Environment:

  • Exposure to the outside elements, louder environment at times, dust, and heavy equipment in a shipping yard environment.
  • Ability to bend and stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift to 50lbs.
  • Able to lift, push, and pull up to 100lbs or more with the proper equipment.
  • This position is an on-site role within our plant - (Not remote or Hybrid) located in Leeds, Alabama.
