Job description

Salary range: $54,863-$73,242

General Description and Classification Standards:

Conducts security inspections and audits of the airport property. Assists in overseeing the daily operations of the computerized access system, reports on security deficiencies, acts as lead worker with junior staff on airport security duties. Acts as lead worker with junior staff members.  

Supervision Received:

Direction received is general and focuses on accomplishing objectives which are outlined in policy and procedures on airport security. May work independently or with other staff with responsibility for completion of assigned tasks

Minimum Qualifications:
Education and Experience 
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited University or College in Airport/Aviation Management, Criminal Justice, Business Administration, or related field.
1 year in airport security or other similar security experience.

Licensures and Certifications 
Must possess a valid driver's license at the time of application. 
A valid Georgia driver's license must be presented for verification at the time of appointment. 
Must successfully pass an FBI fingerprint based criminal history records check with no disqualifying crimes within the last 10 years and Security Threat. 
Must be able to obtain an ATL SIDA Badge and a Customs and Border Protection Seal.

Preferred Requirements 
Master's degree, and/or 2 (or more) years' experience in airport security or other security environment. 
Have considerable knowledge of principal policies and procedures involved in monitoring and controlling access at large complexes as well as a familiarization with the federal aviation security rules and regulations. 
Considerable knowledge of Access Control and CCTV systems is highly desirable. Considerable knowledge of Windows-based systems is highly desirable.

Work Environment:
Required physical, lifting, and sensory capabilities are requirements to perform the job successfully. Typical environmental conditions associated with job. Persons applying must successfully demonstrate their ability to receive, retain and process emergency information. This position is shift work.  There is a salary differential for shift work.

Lifting Requirements: 
Light work:  Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Performs daily security auditing duties and tasks as assigned.  
Operates security equipment and systems to manage daily activities involved with maintaining airport security.  
Acts as lead worker for newer employees on system operation and procedures of airport safety.  
Conducts safety audits of airport to ensure current safety procedures are in place and functioning properly.  
Enters data and other security information into the airport computer system.  
Prepares activity reports and other forms to submit security status to management.  
Works with lost and found office to assist in the return of property to airport employees and visitors.  
Communicates with staff and other persons to inform them of security requirements and explain any issues that arise.  
May perform other duties as assigned.  

Decision Making  
Follows standardized procedures and written instructions to accomplish assigned tasks. Leadership Provided.  
May lead or instruct less experienced staff in completing assigned duties.
