Job Summary
The Airport Design Engineer will join our aviation team in Orlando, FL. As a leading full-service transportation consulting and design firm, ICE is committed to delivering excellence and pushing the boundaries of what's possible in airport design and engineering.
The Airport Design Engineer will play a crucial part in planning, designing, and overseeing the construction of airport facilities, from runways and taxiways to terminal buildings. You'll work with a team of experts, utilize cutting-edge design software, and collaborate on projects of various complexities, all while adhering to the highest industry standards and FAA regulations. You will be responsible for producing plans, reports, and technical specifications for airport improvement projects, mainly involving civil engineering.
Responsibilities
  • Perform civil design using AutoCAD and Civil 3D Modeling for airport infrastructure projects.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams under the guidance of senior engineers/designers.
  • Conduct field work as directed by senior engineers/designers.
  • Assist in various engineering tasks on projects of different complexities.
  • Collect data and information to support design decisions.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards.
  • Create engineering models to meet project specifications and requirements.

Qualifications
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently with a strong focus on client service.
  • Strong teamwork, interpersonal, and communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcGIS, and Microsoft Excel is required.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and must complete a pre-employment screening.
Education and Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering required.
  • EIT required; PE licensed in FL desired.
  • Minimum of 3 years of airport design experience with a strong knowledge of FAA standards is required.
  • Senior positions are available for candidates with 10+ years of relevant experience.
Work Environment amp; Physical Requirements
This position predominantly involves up to 8 hours per day at a computer workstation, with occasional standing and walking. The employee may occasionally lift lightweight office supplies and materials, typically not exceeding 20 pounds. The office environment is indoors, characterized by controlled temperatures and minimal exposure to adverse conditions. Employees must have the ability to visually discern and differentiate details and colors of objects, and proficiency in recognizing sound, tone, and pitch. Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills are necessary. The role demands adaptability to interruptions and changes in workflow, as well as the capacity to sit for extended periods.
Expected Hours of Work
The ICE offices are open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, allowing an unpaid hour for lunch daily. Work schedules may vary according to the project schedule. This is an onsite position reporting to the ICE office 5 days per week.
