Primary Job Duties

This role requires the ability to deliver results that contribute to our operational performance in Detroit, MI, by working in a fast-paced environment with multiple work groups. The role requires a strong work ethic, a high degree of accountability, initiative, and the ability to build relationships with internal and external colleagues. You must enjoy multi-tasking, operating independently and multi-functionally, and be agile in learning and mastering new processes. The ideal candidate will work calmly in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment, be proficient with various forms of technology, and be able to maintain a sense of humor, humility, and positivity.

This is a full- time position. The position starts at $25.23 an hour and increases to $34.32 based on years of service with SkyWest Airlines.

  • Work alongside Delta Airlines personnel in the Airport Command Center (ACC) for the Detroit, MI (DTW) hub
  • Support the SkyWest Airlines operation in DTW by communicating with SkyWest headquarters and local teams to ensure our customers receive the most reliable information and service
  • Advocate for SkyWest Airlines best interest to ensure a safe and reliable operation in DTW
  • Identify any hurdles to safety and optimal operational performance involving gate assignments, aircraft towing, crew movement, and other ground operations
  • Establish and maintain direct relationships with appropriate personnel and advocate SkyWest’s operational performance accordingly
  • Perform other tasks required for the SkyWest operation in DTW and those assigned by the Regional Managers or Airport Operations

Minimum Requirements
  • Previous airline ground operational experience
  • Proficient in basic computer programs
  • Multi-task on a computer, with multiple programs and systems operating at once
  • Effectively communicate to a variety of internal and external workgroups
  • Effectively communicate in time critical and stressful situations
  • Remain humble while learning and continue learning well beyond the training period
  • Take extra care to ensure work is done properly and effectively
  • Take initiative to adjust daily job duties based on operational needs 

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with DL network systems and operational tools
  • Experience working at an airline hub
  • Understanding of an airline hub operation control center
  • Previous airline operational leadership experience
  • Working knowledge of DTW airfield and ground operations
  • Strong knowledge of airline performance metrics and nomenclature
  • Basic understanding of crew scheduling, rest, and related regulations

Physical and Other Requirements
  • 18 years of age or older
  • Have a high school diploma or GED
  • Possess a valid unrestricted state-issued driver’s license
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
  • Pass a pre-placement background check and drug screen
  • Possess all necessary credentials to obtain airport credentials if needed
  • Sit at a computer for extended periods
  • This is not a Department of Transportation safety-sensitive position
