This is a remote position based in the United States.

JOB SUMMARY:
The Sr. Manager DC Air Network Operations is responsible for DHL eCommerce network air performance in developing plans and implementation of those plans to reach the overall strategic goals of the Transportation Department. Responsible for designing and improving operational workflows, managing internal and external vendors who execute the operation (including airlines, carriers, and pick-up/delivery providers). This position will manage a team of Analysts, Specialists and/or Representatives who run the day-to-day network.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor and report on performance (transit time, tracking visibility, among others) for the Air Network.
  • Create, plan, and route all shipments, aligning with the forecasting tools of the cross functional teams.
  • Identify and resolve performance issues and proactively inform cross functional teams of performance issues.
  • Source, secure and manage delivery and airfreight vendors and assure the right balance between cost and performance.
  • Monitor air capacity and ensure additional air capacity is being secured to continually support business needs.
  • Optimize transit times, transit reliability and tracking performance by continuously challenging and improving existing operations.
  • Identify and implement measures for cost savings throughout the distribution chain (DC, handling, transport, delivery).
  • Simplify and standardize operational processes to make network management more efficient and sustainable.
  • Develop new network and routing options and service features for existing operations.
  • Research and network with experts in the industry to understand the regulatory environment and options for customs clearance and delivery.
  • Actively network and negotiate with a broad number of potential operational partners.
  • Recruit, train and manage a team of Transportation experts.
  • Provide operational and financial analysis as it relates to the Air Network.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of logistics industry experience, preferably in an air cargo or e-commerce environment.
  • 3 years of management logistics industry experience.
  • Project management skills and experience in international projects with multinational teams required.

REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS:

  • Excellent analytical and trouble shooting skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills; self-starter with excellent time management and the ability to adapt to rapid changes in the environment
  • Must be innovative in designing workflow procedures
  • Proficient in MS Office suite, including Excel, Word, Power Point

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Physical demands are consistent with a professional office setting.
  • Regular sitting at workstation for 25 - 75% of the work shift.
  • Frequent standing and walking.
  • Domestic travel may be required (up to 25%)
