What does an aircraft sales representative do?

An Aircraft Sales Representative is responsible for selling new or used airplanes to individuals, companies, or government agencies. They identify potential clients, explain the features and benefits of various aircraft, and guide customers through the purchasing process, including negotiations and financing options. Additionally, they maintain relationships with clients, stay informed about industry trends, and often coordinate with manufacturers, maintenance teams, and regulatory bodies to ensure a smooth transaction.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an aircraft sales representative, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Aircraft Sales Representative, you need in-depth knowledge of aviation products, strong sales acumen, and typically a background in business or aviation management. Familiarity with CRM software, aircraft sales databases, and relevant aviation certifications (such as a pilot’s license or industry training) is often advantageous. Outstanding interpersonal skills, negotiation abilities, and the capacity to build lasting client relationships set top performers apart. These skills are crucial for effectively understanding client needs, navigating complex sales cycles, and closing high-value deals in a competitive market.

How does an aircraft sales representative typically collaborate with technical and legal teams during the sales process?

As an Aircraft Sales Representative, you will regularly work with technical experts and legal teams to ensure that each transaction runs smoothly. Technical teams provide critical information about aircraft specifications, maintenance history, and compliance with aviation regulations, which you relay to clients and use to address their concerns. Legal teams assist with drafting and reviewing contracts, handling title transfers, and ensuring all regulatory requirements are met. Effective communication and collaboration with these teams are essential for delivering a seamless buying experience and building trust with clients.

Job description

Sales Development Representative (SDR), Digital Media

This is a launchpad seat. GlobalAir.com has been aviation's homepage since 1995 and is

expanding its digital advertising business now. We need an SDR who likes the hunt and wants a fast, visible route to a closing role.

At a Glance

  • Location: GlobalAir.com headquarters, Louisville, Kentucky
  • Compensation: Base salary plus commission with performance incentives
  • Schedule: Full time, with trade show travel to learn the market face to face
  • Experience: 1 to 3 years in a sales, SDR, BDR, or marketing seat

The Role

You open doors. Research aviation businesses, run targeted outbound, respond to inbound the same day, and book qualified discovery meetings for senior sales executives across the

GlobalAir.com portfolio: aircraft listings, email products (AvBlast, AirMail News, Air Mail Focus, Ramp Ramble), and display advertising.

What a Good Week Looks Like

  • 40 to 60 quality outbound calls and 50 to 75 tailored emails
  • 3 to 6 discovery meetings booked for the senior team
  • A clean CRM and a pipeline you can defend in one sentence per deal

What You Bring

  • 1 to 3 years in a sales, SDR, BDR, or marketing seat; media experience helps but is not

required

  • You like starting conversations with strangers and finding the angle no one else saw
  • You ask for feedback and apply it the same week
  • Clear, confident, concise on the phone and in writing

The Path

Prove you can build pipeline and the next seat is yours: smaller accounts first, then a full

Account Executive role. Target window is 6 to 12 months, driven by your numbers, not your

tenure. And the runway does not end there — this seat is your pathway into the aircraft sales industry: in 3 years, we will help you transition to any major brokerage firm in the U.S., or keep climbing here.

Why This Seat

  • Coaching from experienced sellers building a consultative system, not an activity mill
  • A niche industry where the work stands out and the senior team knows your name
  • Trade show travel to learn the market face to face

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, vision, life, and short/long - term disability insurance
  • Paid time off
  • Bonus and incentive programs
  • Company luncheons and team events

How to Apply

If cold calls do not scare you and airplanes sound more interesting than SaaS, this is your seat.

Send a letter of introduction and your resume to human_r@globalair.com, or apply online at globalair.com/employment. No phone calls, please compensation specifics are covered in the first conversation, not by email.
