Job Summary

Hands-on, high-stakes precision work for a craftsperson who holds themselves to a zero-error standard. This role covers the full scope of piston aircraft engine overhaul—assembly, component inspection, tolerance verification, and functional testing—carried out in strict accordance with manufacturer specifications. Every engine that leaves this shop carries your name on it.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build, repair, and test piston aircraft engine subcomponents in precise compliance with manufacturer overhaul specifications

  • Interpret and apply Airworthiness Directives, Service Bulletins, and overhaul manual requirements throughout the build process

  • Conduct thorough incoming inspections on all parts before any component enters the assembly sequence

  • Review and validate third-party vendor repair documentation for accuracy and compliance

  • Apply precision measurement instruments—micrometers, bore gauges, calipers—to verify critical tolerances at every stage

  • Perform structured compliance checks at defined milestones throughout the assembly process

  • Run functional engine tests using approved procedures and test equipment; diagnose and resolve any issues identified

  • Maintain complete, accurate build documentation at every stage from teardown through final test

  • Coordinate with the Shop Foreman and leadership team as build requirements or technical questions arise

Minimum Requirements
  • 4 or more years of direct aircraft engine build, overhaul, or maintenance experience—OR a strong background in diesel or motorcycle engine work with demonstrated precision assembly capability

  • Solid working knowledge of reciprocating aircraft engine theory and operation

  • Hands-on proficiency with precision measurement tools including micrometers, bore gauges, and calipers

  • Sharp mathematical aptitude and an instinct for detail that doesn’t drop under pressure
