The Difference You Will Make:
As a Staff Software Engineer on the Content Platform team, you'll provide hands-on technical leadership to build an agentic platform to quickly create onsite (airbnb.com) and offsite (emails, push notifications) content in a no-code manner. We are at an exciting inflection point. transforming the platform into an AI-driven system that can turn a marketing brief into a fully realized campaign in minutes, not months. This full stack team owns a complex CMS platform, no-code tool, rendering infrastructure and now an agentic layer, all at scale where our content is consumed by millions of Airbnb users daily. You'll work alongside a team of talented software engineers to build technology that helps Airbnb grow. You will also work closely with cross-functional partners across design, product, and marketing to solve problems that have direct growth impact on our business.
A Typical Day:
As a Staff Software Engineer on Content Platform, you will:
  • Define and drive the technical vision for our platform with a product-first mindset.
  • Lead and contribute to the full development cycle: technical design, implementation, testing, experimentation, and deployment.
  • Participate in code and design reviews, offering constructive feedback to improve technical quality
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to engineers, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous learning.
  • Collaborate with engineering, marketing, creative, and design to drive impactful outcomes.
  • At Staff+ level, our engineers are responsible for setting a technical vision and delivering solutions that are flexible, efficient, and scale with the needs of the business. Each individual brings their own unique skill set, experiences, thought leadership, and technical expertise to solve these challenges for Airbnb.

Your Expertise :
  • 10+ years of hands-on software engineering experience
  • Bachelor's and/or Master/PhD's degree, preferably in CS, or equivalent experience
  • Expertise in backend systems with large-scale service-oriented architecture
  • Hands on experience architecting and developing agentic systems
  • Experience working in Java, and/or Cotlin, LangGraph, GraphQL, relational and noSQL databases, caching solutions like Redis and micro service architecture
  • Passionate about efficiency, availability, and system quality
  • Strong communication skills with experience driving initiatives that span across teams, departments, and leadership

This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed to with your manager. How We'll Take Care of You:
Our job titles may span more than one career level. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.
