About Hyp-tro Pro

Hyp-tro Pro is a growing division of Hyp-tro Building Services, LLC, providing professional HVAC, plumbing, electrical, maintenance, repair, and building service solutions for residential, commercial, and government clients. We are seeking a qualified Master HVAC Technician / Master HVACR Contractor to support our expanding HVAC division and help lead field operations, service calls, installations, inspections, and code-compliant mechanical work.


Position Summary

The Master HVAC Technician will be responsible for performing, supervising, and certifying HVAC work in accordance with applicable mechanical codes, manufacturer requirements, safety standards, permits, and project specifications. This position requires strong technical experience, leadership ability, customer service skills, and the ability to represent Hyp-tro Pro professionally with clients, inspectors, property managers, subcontractors, and internal project teams.

The ideal candidate is licensed, dependable, detail-oriented, safety-focused, and capable of managing HVAC service and installation work from diagnosis through completion.


Key Responsibilities

The Master HVAC Technician will:

  • Perform and supervise HVAC service, repairs, replacements, installations, maintenance, inspections, and troubleshooting.
  • Diagnose heating, cooling, ventilation, refrigeration, and indoor air quality system issues.
  • Install, repair, and maintain HVAC equipment, including split systems, heat pumps, rooftop units, furnaces, air handlers, condensers, boilers, ductwork, thermostats, exhaust fans, and related mechanical systems.
  • Review work orders, project scopes, mechanical drawings, specifications, and field conditions.
  • Ensure all work complies with applicable HVAC, mechanical, fuel gas, electrical, and safety codes.
  • Pull or support HVAC/mechanical permits where required based on license authority and project location.
  • Perform system testing, startup, charging, balancing support, and operational verification.
  • Identify needed materials, equipment, labor hours, safety concerns, and possible change order conditions.
  • Coordinate with project managers, inspectors, building engineers, property managers, vendors, subcontractors, and clients.
  • Provide accurate documentation, including service notes, photos, equipment data, material lists, inspection results, and completion reports.
  • Lead, train, and supervise apprentices, helpers, HVAC technicians, and subcontracted labor when assigned.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and professional jobsite.
  • Ensure tools, vehicles, equipment, refrigerants, and materials are properly used, secured, and maintained.
  • Represent Hyp-tro Pro professionally in all client and field interactions.

Required Qualifications
  • Active Master HVACR License or equivalent master-level HVAC/mechanical license in Maryland, Washington, DC, Virginia, or the applicable project jurisdiction.
  • Minimum of 5 years of HVAC field experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of residential, commercial, and light industrial HVAC systems.
  • EPA Section 608 Certification required.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, equipment manuals, work orders, and code requirements.
  • Experience with permitting, inspections, equipment startup, and code compliance.
  • Ability to troubleshoot HVAC systems and recommend practical repair or replacement solutions.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to pass background checks where required for government, school, commercial, or secured facilities.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage field responsibilities with limited supervision.

Preferred Qualifications
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
  • NATE certification or manufacturer training.
  • Experience with commercial buildings, government contracts, schools, multifamily properties, or facility maintenance.
  • Experience supervising crews or subcontractors.
  • Knowledge of building automation systems, controls, thermostats, zoning, and energy-efficient HVAC solutions.
  • Boiler, chiller, refrigeration, ductwork, or rooftop unit experience.
  • Familiarity with mobile work orders, service software, digital reporting, and photo documentation.

Work Environment

This position may require work in residential properties, commercial buildings, mechanical rooms, rooftops, construction sites, government facilities, and occupied client spaces. The Master HVAC Technician must be able to lift equipment and materials, climb ladders, work in tight spaces, work outdoors, follow lockout/tagout procedures, and comply with all safety requirements.
