Job Description
Atlas Air Comfort is hiring experienced HVAC and heat pump installers in Indiana for residential heat pump installation work.
We are looking for licensed HVAC technicians, local mechanical contractors, or subcontractor crews who can install residential air-source heat pumps, ductless mini-splits, air handlers, and related HVAC equipment. This role is ideal for contractors who already hold local Indiana HVAC/mechanical licensing where required, carry proper insurance, and understand rebate-program documentation.
This position will support heat pump installation projects that may qualify under Indiana’s Home Energy Rebates / Indiana Energy Saver Program, including HEAR and HOMES-related work. Indiana’s program includes eligible upgrades such as heat pump HVAC systems, heat pump water heaters, and electrical upgrades for eligible households.
Responsibilities
Install residential air-source heat pump systems, ducted and ductless
Install outdoor condensers, indoor air handlers, mini-splits, refrigerant lines, drain lines, thermostats, and related HVAC components
Perform system startup, testing, charging, commissioning, and basic troubleshooting
Follow Indiana building code, manufacturer specs, safety standards, and all local city/county permitting requirements
Pull or support mechanical permits where required by the local jurisdiction
Coordinate with electricians when electrical upgrades, panel work, or dedicated circuits are required
Collect job photos, model numbers, serial numbers, AHRI/ENERGY STAR information, invoices, and installation documents
Support rebate-program paperwork and quality-control requirements when applicable
Communicate professionally with homeowners and the office team
Maintain clean job sites and complete installations on schedule
Requirements
Minimum 3+ years of residential HVAC or heat pump installation experience
Experience installing air-source heat pumps and/or ductless mini-splits
EPA Section 608 certification required for refrigerant handling
Local Indiana HVAC/mechanical license preferred where required by city or county
Ability to pull permits or work under proper local licensing where required
General liability insurance and workers’ compensation preferred for subcontractors
Experience with Indiana Energy Saver Program, HEAR, HOMES, utility rebates, or energy-efficiency programs is a strong plus
Ability to complete rebate documentation accurately
Own tools and reliable transportation
Valid driver’s license

Compensation
$28–$45 per hour depending on experience, licensing, location, and ability to complete heat pump installations independently.
