ABOUT THE ROLE
Our client is seeking a Senior UX Researcher for a high-visibility contract position based in New York, NY (Hybrid), reporting to the Senior Director of User Research and Consumer Insights. You will play an influential role in defining the future of a leading direct-to-consumer streaming product at a Fortune Broadcast Media & Entertainment organization. As a seasoned researcher, you will design and lead impactful studies across the full customer lifecycle-answering questions about ideal subscriber experiences, purchase confidence, content discovery, and innovative feature development. You will collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Design, Analytics, and Product Marketing teams, leading research that both evaluates product decisions and shapes foundational product initiatives. This role offers the opportunity to directly impact a widely recognized streaming platform, work independently, and champion a consumer-centric mindset throughout the organization in a dynamic, collaborative environment.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Consult cross-functional partners, including Product, Design, Analytics, and Product Marketing, to identify research needs and select appropriate methodologies and tools
  • Design and conduct qualitative and quantitative research across the product lifecycle, utilizing methods such as surveys, moderated and unmoderated prototype tests, lab studies, remote interviews, benchmark studies, diary studies, card sorts, and correlation analyses
  • Analyze research data and synthesize insights to deliver clear, actionable recommendations for product direction, crafting memos and reports that communicate key learnings and surface timely signals
  • Collaborate with insights team members, analytics, and strategy partners to provide a holistic view of product performance, subscriber needs, and opportunities
  • Leverage innovative research methodologies and AI-enabled tools to streamline and scale repeatable research workflows and visualizations
  • Champion a consumer-centric mindset and influence product decisions at all organizational levels
  • Stay current on industry trends and emerging technologies relevant to user research and streaming consumer behavior
  • Lead research across the full customer lifecycle-from acquisition and onboarding through engagement and retention-on a product used by millions of subscribers
WHAT YOU BRING
  • 7+ years of experience in consumer product research or consumer insights for subscription and/or mobile products, or a related industry
  • Expertise in designing, executing, and analyzing a wide range of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies (e.g., interviews, prototype tests, card sorts, diary studies, surveys, correlation analyses)
  • Ability to adapt research methodologies for novel needs and apply appropriate methods with a deep understanding of when and how to use them
  • Strong communication skills with proven ability to synthesize crucial insights beyond the surface level and deliver clear, actionable recommendations
  • Demonstrated success using data and insights to influence business decisions and drive product direction
  • Strong analytical skills, combining consumer research insights with behavioral data
  • Ability to work independently and drive initiatives while collaborating closely with cross-functional partners
  • Passion for entertainment and media, with curiosity about culture and trends as they relate to products and user experiences (preferred)
  • Experience thriving in a highly dynamic, matrixed organization and managing multiple projects simultaneously (preferred)
