Position Title
Artificial Intelligence (AI) Coordinator
Position Summary
The Artificial Intelligence (AI) Coordinator will serve as a campus resource to advance the effective, ethical, and innovative use of AI at Spelman College. This role will support faculty, staff, and administrative units by providing prompt engineering guidance, training on AI capabilities, and managing special AI-related projects. The coordinator will help integrate AI tools into institutional operations while ensuring alignment with the College's strategic priorities, data governance policies, and academic mission.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
AI Training & Support
  • Assist faculty, staff, and administrators with writing effective prompts and applying AI responsibly.
  • Conduct workshops, one-on-one sessions, and develop training materials to increase AI literacy across campus.
  • Act as a first-line resource for troubleshooting AI-related issues and connecting users with appropriate support.

Special Project
  • Coordinate and implement AI-related projects that enhance teaching, learning, and administrative operations.
  • Partner with academic and administrative units to identify opportunities for AI adoption.
  • Track, document, and report project outcomes and lessons learned.

Governance & Compliance
  • Ensure that AI use complies with institutional guidelines and broader ethical standards.
  • Monitor developments in AI policy and contribute recommendations to the College's AI Governance Committee.
  • Assist in developing guardrails to reduce risks such as bias, privacy concerns, and data misuse.

Partnership & Collaboration
  • Collaborate with IT staff, faculty committees, and external partners to advance AI innovation.
  • Provide feedback to leadership on trends, risks, and emerging opportunities in AI.
  • Support alignment between AI activities and the College's ElevatED strategic plan.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Educational Technology, or related field
  • Strong knowledge of artificial intelligence tools, applications, and ethical considerations.
  • Experience in prompt engineering, training, or technology adoption initiatives.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver results in a collaborative environment.
  • Commitment to Spelman College's mission and values, including equity and responsible technology use.
