Ai Localization information

What is AI localization?

AI localization refers to the process of adapting artificial intelligence systems, such as chatbots, voice assistants, or machine learning models, to work effectively in different languages, cultures, and regions. This involves translating content, adjusting for cultural nuances, and ensuring that the AI understands and responds appropriately to local contexts. AI localization helps make technology accessible and relevant to global audiences, improving user experience and engagement. It often requires a combination of linguistic expertise, technical knowledge, and cultural awareness.

How does an AI Localization specialist typically collaborate with engineering and product teams during a project?

AI Localization specialists often work closely with engineering and product teams to ensure that AI-driven products are accurately adapted for different languages and regions. This involves regular meetings to discuss project requirements, reviewing source content, and providing feedback on technical constraints that may impact localization. Close collaboration helps address challenges such as adapting user interfaces, maintaining context in translations, and ensuring cultural relevance. Effective communication and an understanding of both linguistic and technical aspects are key to delivering a high-quality localized product.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an AI Localization specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as an AI Localization Specialist, you need expertise in linguistics, translation, and a solid understanding of AI or machine learning concepts, often supported by a degree in languages, translation, or computer science. Proficiency with localization management systems, CAT tools, and familiarity with programming languages or AI platforms is highly beneficial. Strong attention to detail, cross-cultural communication, and problem-solving skills help ensure accurate and culturally appropriate translations. These skills are crucial for delivering localized AI products that resonate with global users and maintain technical accuracy.

At Gusto, we're on a mission to grow the small business economy. We handle the hard stuff - payroll, health insurance, 401(k)s, and HR - so owners can focus on their craft and their customers. With teams in Denver, San Francisco, and New York, we support more than 500,000 small businesses nationwide and are building a workplace that reflects the people we serve.

  • All full-time employees receive competitive base pay, benefits, and equity (RSUs) - because everyone who helps build Gusto should share in its success.

AI is a fundamental part of how work gets done at Gusto. We expect all team members to actively engage with AI tools relevant to their role and grow their fluency as the technology evolves. AI experience requirements vary by role and will be assessed during the interview process.

About the Role

We're on the lookout for talented Mobile iOS Engineers with 12+ years of experience who have the expertise to help guide our mobile efforts. In this role, you'll have the chance to dive into developing the foundation upon which our mobile apps are built. We want you to take ownership of scaling our shared services while keeping up with the latest in the iOS world. You'll work closely with teams across Product, Identity, Security, System Design, and Infrastructure, collaborating to build solutions that really make a difference. If you're excited about building elegant, scalable apps and being part of a supportive, innovative mobile team, we'd love to hear from you!

About the Team

At Gusto, we're excited to be at a pivotal moment in our journey with over 1M+ monthly active users and the recent launch of our employer experiences on mobile. Our mission is to tackle the real challenges faced by small business owners and their employees, and we believe that mobile is key to delivering impactful solutions. As part of our mobile team, you'll be at the forefront of this transformation, working alongside talented engineers and designers who are passionate about creating a seamless mobile experience. Together, we're building a platform that empowers everyone - small business owners and their teams to thrive. If you're ready to make a difference in the mobile landscape at Gusto, we want you on board!

Here's what you'll do day-to-day:
  • Architect, build, test, and refine Gusto's iOS app, along with supporting embedded mobile web views that enhance user experience.
  • Utilize AI agents as a multiplier to deliver high-quality output quickly.
  • Identify and advocate for best-practices, architecture and process.
  • Enhance and maintain our iOS mobile infrastructure, including build pipelines, testing automation, and the release process, to ensure smooth operations.
  • Build and scale essential, foundational services, such as push notification systems, accessibility and localization features, to enhance app functionality.
  • Develop, iterate, and improve product features that integrate core business functions, work tools, value-added services, and financial products.
  • Collaborate closely with our product management, design, and partner teams in product apps, identity, security, design systems, and infrastructure to identify technical and customer pain points, brainstorm solutions, and then prototype, iterate, and launch those solutions. Create a product that our customers truly love - don't just take our word for it; see what our customers have to say.
Here's what we're looking for:
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in Swift and iOS software engineering, with at least 12 years in mobile software engineering overall.
  • Excellent communication skills and a knack for building strong cross-functional partnerships.
  • A self-driven mindset with the ability to tackle greenfield projects and bring innovative ideas to life.
  • Proficiency in iOS testing frameworks and a solid understanding of best practices.
  • Experience in developing platform components and common features that enhance scalability, consistency, performance, and maintainability throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Strong critical thinking abilities and a keen attention to detail.
  • A willingness to learn continuously and a passion for mentoring others in the organization.
  • Experience delivering high-quality code across a diverse tech stack.
  • Experience with analytics and monitoring tools to track app performance / health and user engagement.
  • Experience with mobile infrastructure, for example: CI/CD, automated testing environments, and release orchestration.
  • Building a strong mobile foundation that feature teams can build on top of.
  • Strong knowledge of GraphQL.
  • Experience working at scale on apps that span multiple teams and feature areas.
