What We Want

The Collaborative for Innovation in Teacher Education (CITE) at Texas A&M University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate. CITE addresses the grand challenges of teaching and teacher education in Texas and beyond by integrating theory, practice, and policy to develop next-generation educators. The Postdoctoral Research Associate will serve as a scholarly partner embedded within CITE's three-directional research agenda, bridging theory, practice, and policy, and will contribute to the Collaborative's growing national and international impact.

Additional Information:

  • This position is time-limited and contingent on continued funding associated with CITE's sponsored research activities.

  • The Postdoctoral Research Associate may be required to attend professional conferences, representing CITE at national and international venues.

  • Some evening availability may be required to support CITE's monthly professional development events.

  • The position is ORP-eligible per the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board regulations.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  • Appropriate PhD in Curriculum and Instruction, Teaching & Teacher Education, Literacy Education, or a closely related field by the date of appointment.

  • A record demonstrated peer-reviewed publications with at least five publications.

  • Demonstrated familiarity with narrative inquiry, qualitative methodologies, or discourse analysis as research approaches.

  • Prior experience supporting editorial processes, including reviewing manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals or practitioner publications.

  • Teaching or co-instructional experience at the graduate or undergraduate level in a university setting.

  • Demonstrated engagement in professional associations such as AERA, TESOL, AATC, or related organizations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience conducting research in multilingual or international educational contexts.

  • A record of grant writing experience, including preparation of proposals for federal, state, or private foundation funding.

  • Experience with AI in education research.

  • Prior work with practitioner-facing publications or public scholarship translating research for K-12 educators.

  • Experience designing or delivering teacher professional development programs in formal or informal settings.

  • A record of service to the profession, including conference paper reviewing, editorial board service, or professional association leadership.

  • Experience with marketing courses and programs.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce scholarly manuscripts and policy documents.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a research team structure, managing multiple projects with competing timelines.

  • Familiarity with citation management, academic publishing conventions, and manuscript preparation in APA style.

  • Demonstrated attention to detail in data analysis, writing, and editorial coordination.

  • Capacity to represent CITE's work effectively at professional conferences and in public-facing contexts.

Essential Duties/Tasks

Research

  • Design, conduct, and disseminate translational teacher education research aligned with CITE's theory-practice-policy agenda, with particular attention to teacher professional development in national and international contexts.

  • Contribute to ongoing CITE research initiatives, including studies of teacher attrition, curriculum ideological frameworks, preservice teacher preparation, and AI integration in education.

  • Analyze quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-methods data from national and international datasets, including survey-based, narrative inquiry, and critical discourse analysis studies.

  • Support and contribute to sponsored grant applications associated with CITE's research portfolio, including federal, state, and private foundation funding.

Program Support and Outreach

  • Support CITE's monthly professional development events, including lectures, workshops, and book launches for local, national, and international educator audiences.

  • Represent CITE at professional conferences and contribute to CITE's visibility in the field.

  • Engage with K-12 school and district partners involved in CITE-affiliated practice initiatives.

Editorial and Scholarly Coordination

  • Support the editorial and production operations of the BRIDGE Journal, CITE's practitioner-facing quarterly publication.

  • Contribute to the preparation of CITE's annual reports, policy briefs, and institutional documents for internal and external audiences.

Mentoring and Course Contribution

  • Mentor doctoral students involved in CITE-affiliated research projects and assist with graduate-level course development in narrative inquiry, teacher education, or writing instruction as opportunities arise.

  • Contribute to curriculum development for CITE-connected graduate courses, including EDCI 706 and EDCI 707.
