What is an AI Hardware job?

An AI Hardware job involves designing, developing, and optimizing computer hardware specifically for artificial intelligence applications. Professionals in this field work on specialized processors, accelerators, and memory systems to improve AI performance and efficiency. They collaborate with software engineers to ensure seamless integration between hardware and AI algorithms. Typical roles include AI chip designers, hardware architects, and FPGA engineers.

What is a $900000 AI job?

A $900,000 AI job typically refers to a high-level position in artificial intelligence, such as a senior AI researcher, machine learning director, or executive role, often requiring advanced skills, extensive experience, and sometimes specialized certifications. These roles usually involve leadership, strategic planning, and cutting-edge development in AI technologies, with compensation reflecting the level of expertise and responsibility.

What are the typical day-to-day responsibilities of someone working in an AI Hardware role?

Professionals in AI Hardware roles usually spend their days designing, developing, and testing specialized hardware components like processors, accelerators, and memory systems that support artificial intelligence workloads. Their work often involves collaborating closely with software engineers, data scientists, and system architects to optimize performance and ensure compatibility across platforms. They also participate in debugging, prototyping, and refining hardware based on simulation results, benchmarks, and real-world testing feedback. This combination of hands-on technical work and cross-functional collaboration creates a dynamic, results-oriented environment where innovation is highly valued.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Ai Hardware position, and why are they important?

To succeed in AI Hardware roles, you should have a solid background in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a related field, along with experience in hardware design and verification. Familiarity with tools like Verilog/VHDL, FPGA/ASIC development environments, and hardware simulation software is typically expected, and certifications such as a Professional Engineer (PE) license or specialized hardware design credentials can be advantageous. Strong problem-solving abilities, teamwork, and effective communication are essential soft skills for collaborating on complex, multi-disciplinary projects. These qualifications allow professionals to innovate and build efficient AI-optimized hardware systems that meet both performance and industry standards.

Will AI replace computer hardware jobs?

AI hardware jobs involve designing and maintaining physical components like chips and servers that support AI systems. While AI automation can streamline some tasks, hardware roles require hands-on skills, troubleshooting, and physical work that are less likely to be fully replaced by AI in the near term.

Which AI job is high paying?

AI research scientist and AI solutions architect are among the highest-paying roles in AI hardware, often requiring advanced degrees and expertise in machine learning, deep learning, and hardware integration. These positions typically offer high salaries due to their specialized skills and impact on technology development.

Job description

About Sygaldry
Sygaldry Technologies is building quantum-accelerated AI servers to exponentially speed up training and inference for AI. By integrating quantum and AI, we're accelerating the path to superintelligence, and addressing the problem of rising compute costs and energy bottlenecks. Sygaldry AI servers combine multiple qubit types within a single, fault-tolerant architecture to deliver the combination of cost, scale, and speed necessary for advanced AI applications. We pioneer new domains in physics, engineering, and AI, tackling the hardest challenges with a grounded, optimistic, and rigorous culture. We're looking for individuals ready to define the intersection of quantum and AI and drive its profound global impact.
About the Role:
This role is focused on the architecting of high-performing AI hardware, and does not require prior knowledge of quantum computers. This is a hands-on architecture role for someone who enjoys moving between whiteboard-level system design, performance modeling, and lightweight simulation/emulation, with direct influence on hardware, firmware, and software co-design decisions. We will share more detail about this role during in-person discussions.
You May Be a Good Fit If You Have:
  • Architected end-to-end heterogeneous compute systems spanning CPUs, GPUs and novel accelerators.
  • Analyzed scale-up interconnects (e.g., NVLink, UALink, Infinity Fabric, or equivalent) and their impact on latency, bandwidth, and synchronization of high performance AI hardware
  • Designed timing arcs, critical paths, and throughput models across complex multi-device systems.
  • Identified system-level bottlenecks in training, inference, and reinforcement learning workflows at hyperscaler scale.
  • Modeled and reasoned about GPU collective operations (e.g., NCCL, RCCL, or equivalents) across nodes, racks, and pods.
  • Evaluated how collective communication patterns interact with emerging accelerators and non-GPU compute elements.
  • Worked with software and firmware teams to ensure architectural assumptions map cleanly to real-world implementations.

Why This Matters
Your work accelerates the path to quantum superintelligence. Each quantum component integrated, each AI model enhanced, each instruction set optimized brings us closer to a future where intelligence and quantum mechanics are inextricably intertwined. We're not building incremental improvements - we're creating exponential transformations that will make AI more affordable, sustainable, personalized, and fundamentally more capable.
How We're Different
At Sygaldry, curiosity and intellectual courage drive our work. We approach ambitious challenges with a grounded, optimistic, and rigorous culture and know that kind people build the strongest teams. We prioritize mission over ego and collaborate openly with a strong sense of shared purpose. We dream big, yet we execute with a love of detail. We're looking for scientists, engineers, and operators to forge new paths with us at the intersection of quantum and AI.
Culture & Benefits
  • Visa Sponsorship - We know what it takes to make top talent thrive here. We're open to supporting visas whenever possible.
  • Compensation - We value your contribution and invest in your future with a competitive salary and meaningful equity.
  • Benefits - Your well-being matters. We provide company-sponsored health coverage to give you and your family peace of mind.
  • Connection - Whether it's company offsite or casual crew socials, we make time to connect, recharge, and have fun together.
  • Time Off - We trust you to take the time you need. Unlimited PTO so you can rest, recharge, and come back ready to make an impact.

We encourage applications from candidates with diverse backgrounds. We are an equal opportunity employer, and we do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, age, veteran status, disability, genetic information, or other applicable legally protected characteristic.
We encourage you to apply even if you do not believe you meet every single qualification. If you don't think this role is right for you, but you believe that you would have something meaningful to to contribute to our mission, please reach out at letsbuild@sygaldry.com
