Job description

ABOUT RETELL AI
Retell AI is using first principles to reimagine the call center with cutting-edge voice AI.
Thousands of companies now utilize Retell's AI voice agents to handle sales, support, and logistics calls that once required large teams of human agents. Backed by Y Combinator, Alt Capital, and other leading investors, we have scaled to $60M ARR with a team of 40 people, up from $5M at the start of 2025.
Our vision for 2026 is to build a modern CX platform where entire contact centers are powered by AI. Instead of basic automation that needs constant human tuning, we're creating intelligent AI "workers" that can act as frontline agents, QA analysts, and managers - continuously executing, monitoring, and improving customer interactions.
We're growing quickly and looking for ambitious builders who want to tackle hard technical problems, move fast, and have real impact at one of the fastest-growing voice AI startups.
  • Let's build the future together.
  • We're a top 50 AI app in a16z list: a16z Top AI Apps
  • #4 on Brex's Fast-Growing Software Vendors of 2025: Brex Benchmark 2025
  • We're also one of the top ranking startups on: Lean AI Leaderboard
  • Enterprise Tech 30: Wing Venture Capital ET30

ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a Compliance Engineer to help build and own the systems, processes, and technical controls that keep Retell secure, compliant, and enterprise-ready. You'll work closely with Engineering, Security, Legal, and customer-facing teams to ensure our infrastructure and products meet the security and compliance requirements of the world's largest companies.
This is a highly hands-on role. You'll translate compliance requirements into technical controls, automate evidence collection, identify gaps, and help build the systems that allow Retell to move quickly without compromising security or compliance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Compliance Engineering: Build and maintain technical controls across security and compliance frameworks such as SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA, and other enterprise requirements.
  • Automation: Automate compliance workflows, evidence collection, access reviews, security checks, and other repetitive processes.
  • Security Controls: Partner with Engineering and Security to implement and monitor controls around access management, infrastructure, data protection, logging, and vulnerability management.
  • Audit Readiness: Support audits by owning technical evidence collection and working with auditors to address compliance requirements.
  • Enterprise Security: Work with customers and internal teams to respond to security questionnaires, compliance requirements, and technical due diligence.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify gaps in our compliance and security programs and build scalable systems to address them.
YOU MIGHT THRIVE IF
  • You have a strong technical background in software engineering, security, infrastructure, IT, or a related field.
  • You're interested in compliance, security, and how technology can be used to build scalable compliance programs.
  • You're comfortable learning new security and compliance frameworks and turning requirements into practical technical solutions.
  • You have strong scripting or programming skills in Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Bash, or a similar language.
  • You understand security fundamentals such as IAM, encryption, networking, logging, vulnerability management, and cloud security.
  • You're highly analytical and enjoy solving ambiguous problems.
  • You're comfortable working across Engineering, Security, Legal, and customer-facing teams.
  • You communicate clearly and can explain technical and compliance concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience with SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA, or other compliance frameworks is a plus.
  • Experience with AWS, GCP, Vanta, Drata, Wiz, Okta, or similar tools is a plus.
JOB DETAILS
  • Employment Type: Full-Time or Part-Time 1099 Contractor
  • Location: Remote
  • Compensation: $6000-$7500 USD/Month, based on experience
  • Hours: Must be open to working some overlapping hours with our Pacific Time team and customers.
