Job description

AI Solutions Engineer Lead

Location: This role requires associates to be in-office1 - 2days per week, fostering collaboration and connectivity, while providing flexibility to support productivity and work-life balance. This approach combines structured office engagement with the autonomy of virtual work, promoting a dynamic and adaptable workplace. Alternate locations may be considered if candidates reside within a commuting distance from an office.

The AI Solutions Engineer Lead(Engineer Lead Senior) is responsible for leading the end to end application system development and maintenance on large complex enterprise wide technology platforms. This role requires a strong hands-on engineer with deep experience building AI-enabled systems and using AI agents and coding assistants across the SDLC (planning, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and production support). The ideal candidate will drive adoption of AI capabilities across the portfolio, establish best practices, and mentor teams to scale AI-enabled engineering.

How You Will Make an Impact

Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead development and architecture of agentic AI solutions, including orchestration, tool integration, and reusable enterprise patterns.
  • Daily or weekly use of AI coding tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, ChatGPT, Codex-style agents, or similar.
  • Define and implement model evaluation frameworks (quality, accuracy, safety, and performance metrics) and guide teams on continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of industry trends, responsible AI, data privacy, and secure handling of sensitive information.
  • Improve AI output quality through prompt optimization and model tuning.
  • Maintains active relationships with customers to determine business requirements, leads requirements gathering meetings and reviews designs with the business.
  • Anticipates broad technical change and ensures that company technology stays ahead of the curve.
  • Understands the entire architecture for a major part of our business and is able to articulate the scaling and reliability limits.
  • Owns the change request process and coordinates with other teams as necessary.
  • Develops and owns list of final enhancements.
  • Develops and defines application scope and objectives and supervises the preparation of technical and/or functional specifications from with programs will be written.
  • Performs technical design reviews and code reviews.
  • Ensures unit test is completed and meets the test plan requirements, system testing is completed and system is implemented according to plan.
  • Responsible for delivery of application technology solutions and data information planning effort.
  • May participates in developing the multi-year technology strategy for critical areas of the business that may encompass multiple systems.
  • Partners with technical and non technical stakeholder to identify the long term technical trajectory of the technology infrastructure.
  • Creates architecture and anticipates future technology needs.
  • Leads the conversations internally about the direction of major areas of the technology, drives wide-team consensus to the adoption of this direction, and uses this direction when engaging engineers.
  • Coordinates and manages on-call support and owns the system monitoring process.
  • Reviews and monitors initiatives for end to end impact and coordination.
  • Participates in review and decision making for enterprise solutions.

Minimum Requirements:

Requires a BA/BS degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field of study, and a minimum of 9 years experience; experience with multi dimensional platforms, and business and technical applications required; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

Preferred Skills, Capabilities, and Experiences:

  • Experience mentoring others, driving teams to achieve results, leading multiple and/or large projects, and provide troubleshooting support strongly preferred.
  • Multi database and/or multi language strongly preferred.
  • Experience with US healthcare, payer, claims, clinical, HIPAA, PHI, regulated industry, or enterprise security experience.
  • Project leadership experience including Agile project management, Scaled Agile Frameworks (SAFE).
  • Knowledge of Agile/SAFe delivery and portfolio management tools.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to explain AI concepts to nontechnical audiences.
  • Experience integrating AI into tools such as JIRA or similar delivery platforms.
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals including, cloud-native development, APIs and microservices, CI/CD, automated testing, and secure SDLC strongly preferred.
  • Experience building or integrating AI agents, tool/function calling, RAG, memory, model routing, evaluations, guardrails, observability, and secure API/tool access strongly preferred.
  • Experience building LLM or SLM applications.
  • Ability to review, test, and harden AI-generated code.
