Job description

Agilis is looking for Structural Engineers with all levels of experience to help us solve complex problems related to gas turbines and other complex machinery. Successful candidates for our positions will be able to work on a variety of projects using a variety of software. Positions available in Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Columbia & Greenville, SC, Oklahoma City, OK and San Diego, CA.

In the design and development of complex machines, engineers are faced with the need to solve many problems simultaneously. The Structural Engineer, using his/her analytical knowledge and tools, will direct and shape the detailed structural solutrion concurrently with the development of the mechanical design.

PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to those listed and will include other duties as required from time to time:

Responsibilities/ Duties: include but not limited to:

  • Performing initial and ongoing design projects and reviews
  • Conduct stress analyses in a complete and timely manner, achieving an understanding of hardware function and requirements under analysis. Analyses must be performed at a level of detail consistent with the program requirements. Preparation of analytical reports are to be consistent with requirements stated in the Agilis Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Interface with Design and other functional discipline team members
  • Delivering documentation that provides critical analysis and suggestions for innovative solutions
  • Developing CAD project drawings
  • Implementing engineering principles in the development of sound structural analysis
  • Active participation in customer reviews, as requested
  • Understanding stress types and failure modes
  • Identifying root problems and finding innovative solutions
  • Understand and work to meet the schedule, budget, and deliverable expectations
  • Collaborating with team members including program management and technical leads to optimize engine performance.

Position Education/Requirements: include but are not limited to:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related degree
  • Experienced candidates should have 5+ years of experience in gas turbine engineering or a similar technical field
  • Thorough knowledge of most advanced engineering methods, tools and procedures
  • Ability to choose and use the appropriate stress analysis tools, including hand calculations, by comparison to previous analyses, or by finite element analysis, having proficiency with ANSYS FEM software
  • Computer Skills: Advanced knowledge of Word, Excel, and Outlook (or similar programs), Strong knowledge of CAD software, and analysis software, such as ANSYS
  • Must have excellent, written and oral communication skills and the ability to communicate with all levels of management and customers.
  • Must have advanced problem solving and analytic skills.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills.
  • Must be a team player
  • Ability and willingness to travel, if necessary.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a United States Security Clearance, if necessary
  • Physical Demands: Able to sit for long periods of time; able to work at a computer desk or workstation; able to perform light physical duties such as lifting and carrying up to 30lbs
