An Agile Practitioner plays a key role in promoting effective communication and collaboration among cross-functional teams by organizing and moderating ceremonies such as daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives. Their facilitation fosters a culture of continuous improvement and ensures alignment with Agile principles, which is essential for delivering high-quality products efficiently.

Job description

Stand Together is a philanthropic community that helps America's boldest changemakers tackle the root causes of our country's biggest problems, from education to the economy, broken communities, and toxic division, among dozens of other pressing issues. We provide our partners with access to resources including funding, thought leadership, a network of peers, and a playbook for applying proven principles to transform lives and society.
As Agile Practice Lead, you will help us build an Agile practice from the ground up. Over the last year, a structured contractor engagement has demonstrated that dedicated Agile leadership meaningfully improves delivery predictability, team throughput, and leadership visibility across multiple scrum teams. We are now ready to bring that capability in-house, and the Agile Practice Lead is the foundational step toward that end.
This is a senior-level leadership and enablement role. You will own the Agile practice as a discipline: setting the standards, developing the practitioners, and connecting day-to-day delivery execution to our broader operating model. You will build and lead a small team of Scrum Masters, serve as the primary strategic partner to engineering and product leadership on delivery health, and translate what is happening across teams into insights that help us make better decisions faster.
How You Will Contribute
  • Own the Agile practice: define standards, build playbooks, and ensure consistency of execution across teams.

  • Hire, develop, and manage a team of Scrum Masters; set craft expectations, support career growth, and maintain a high bar for the function.

  • Lead Agile maturity assessments across teams and translate findings into prioritized, actionable improvement plans.

  • Build and maintain a leadership-facing view of delivery health: normalized metrics, dashboards, and sprint insights that give leaders a reliable, consistent signal across the portfolio.

  • Serve as the primary internal point of contact for delivery model governance-connecting Agile execution to intake, prioritization, and cross-team dependency management.

  • Partner with Product and Engineering leaders to optimize and advance delivery team objectives.

  • Own Jira workflow standards, reporting integrity, and tooling consistency across delivery teams; ensure the data in the system is trustworthy and useful.

  • Identify opportunities to reduce administrative burden through automation, AI-assisted tooling, and process simplification.

  • Build a community of practice that elevates Agile craft across EIT and creates a shared language for delivery excellence.

What You Will Bring
  • Substantial experience in Agile delivery at a senior or lead level, with a track record of improving outcomes across multiple teams.

  • Demonstrated experience managing, mentoring, and developing Agile practitioners.

  • The ability to operate simultaneously at the strategic and practitioner level: you can set direction and model the behavior you expect.

  • Strong Jira expertise: automation, workflow design, backlog configuration, dashboard and reporting development.

  • Exceptional facilitation and communication skills, including the ability to translate delivery signals into executive-level insights without losing the nuance that makes them actionable.

  • Experience building practices in maturing organizations. You are comfortable with ambiguity and know how to create structure without creating rigidity.
  • Enthusiasm to contribute to Stand Together's vision and principled approach to solving problems, and a commitment to stewarding our culture, which champions values including transformation and innovation, entrepreneurialism, humility, and respect.

Standout Candidates Will Bring
  • Experience designing Agile maturity models, delivery scorecards, or similar frameworks for assessing and improving team performance.

  • Experience supporting platform, data, or enterprise technology teams, where delivery complexity is high and cross-team dependencies are the norm.

  • Experience building communities of practice or other mechanisms for scaling knowledge and standards across a distributed practitioner community.

  • Experience with AI-assisted tooling or automation approaches that reduce ceremony overhead and improve delivery visibility.

What We Offer
  • Competitive benefits: Enjoy a 6% 401(k) match with immediate vesting, flexible time off, comprehensive health and dental plans, plus wellness and mental health support through Peloton and Talkspace.
  • A meaningful career: Join a passionate community of over 1,300 employees dedicated to improving lives and driving innovative solutions to complex social challenges.
  • Commitment to growth: Thrive in a non-hierarchical environment that empowers employees to discover, develop and apply their unique talents.
  • Competitive compensation: Our approach rewards the value you create through competitive salaries and bonus opportunities, allowing you to share in the success you help drive.

Our Values: Working for an organization within the Stand Together philanthropic community is different from many other places. The culture is deeply rooted in Principle Based Managementยฎ (PBMยฎ), a framework guided by the principles that drive human progress, such as dignity, openness, and bottom-up empowerment. PBMยฎ empowers employees to be entrepreneurial, to innovate, and to continually drive transformation.
We believe diversity fuels creativity, broadens knowledge, and helps drive success. That is why we're proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer and strive to treat all employees and applicants with honesty, dignity, and respect.
We may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support parts of the hiring process, such as reviewing applications, analyzing resumes, or assessing responses. These tools assist our recruitment team but do not replace human judgment. Final hiring decisions are ultimately made by humans.
