What is an Agile Magnetics?

An Agile Magnetics job typically involves designing, manufacturing, or testing custom magnetic components, such as transformers, inductors, and coils, for various industries. Employees may work in engineering, production, quality control, or sales, depending on their role. The job often requires expertise in electrical and mechanical engineering, material science, and manufacturing processes. Agile Magnetics focuses on precision and efficiency to meet customer specifications.

What skills and qualifications are needed for an Agile Magnetics?

To thrive as an Agile Magnetics Engineer, you need a strong background in electrical engineering, experience in magnetic component design, and familiarity with manufacturing processes, typically supported by a relevant engineering degree. Proficiency with simulation software (such as ANSYS, Maxwell, or similar), CAD tools, and knowledge of industry standards and testing equipment is essential. Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and effective communication are valued soft skills in this role. These competencies ensure the development of high-quality, efficient magnetic components and facilitate teamwork across design, testing, and manufacturing teams.

What are common challenges faced by Agile Magnetics engineers, and how are they addressed in the workplace?

Agile Magnetics Engineers often face design challenges related to optimizing magnetic component performance within tight size, cost, and material constraints. To overcome these issues, they work closely with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing and quality assurance, to balance technical requirements with practical limitations. Regular prototyping, testing, and iterative refinement are central to the role, ensuring that client and industry standards are consistently met. Supportive environments typically encourage ongoing professional development and collaboration, making it easier to resolve complex technical issues and stay abreast of evolving technologies.

This position could be opened at multiple levels including Principal, Lead, and Senior depending upon years of experience in relation to posted requirements. As the Lead Ultrasound Engineer, you are responsible for ensuring world-class imaging performance on our products that meet our customers' needs. You will integrate a range of transducers onto ultrasound imaging platforms and assess clinical value. You will develop software tools, image and data analytics infrastructure, and test methods to facilitate pre-clinical and clinical evaluation. You will regularly collaborate with a global, cross-functional team that includes Product Managers, Clinical Application Specialists, and R&D colleagues (e.g., hardware, software, mechanical, and transducer engineers).
Your key responsibilities include:
  • Participate the design and development of transducer technologies to improve image quality, including advanced matrix arrays and wearable transducers
  • Develop and improve features in echocardiography, including 3D/4D volumetric imaging
  • Streamline and accelerate the development of artificial intelligence (AI) models that will be deployed on state-of-the-art ultrasound platforms to improve imaging performance
  • Design and develop the full ultrasound signal path (from transmit to display) for basic imaging modes and advanced features
  • Lead image performance improvement, including algorithm research and development, pre-clinical and clinical image optimization, verification and validation
  • Lead new product development activities, including design requirements and specifications, test method development, verification, and related documentation that complies with medical device regulations, standards, and our quality system
  • Collaborate with global Ultrasound team to integrate transducers onto ultrasound platforms
  • Participate in development of workflow automation features, including AI-based algorithms
  • Mentor and coach early-career team members in order to elevate R&D capabilities of team
  • Contribute to company's IP portfolio, including development of invention disclosures and patent applications
  • Support for collaborations with clinical institutions and universities on innovation projects
  • Maintain knowledge (e.g., publications, conferences) of state-of-the-art and trends in imaging technologies and reporting to global team

Working Conditions:
Magnetic Environment Exposure:
This position requires working in an environment where strong magnetic fields may be present. Employees may be exposed to powerful magnets, electromagnetic equipment, or other devices that generate magnetic fields.
Risk to Ferrous Metals in the Body:
Due to the nature of the magnetic environment, employees must not wear or carry ferrous metals on their person while in the designated work area. This includes, but is not limited to, metal objects such as steel, iron, and other ferrous materials. Additionally, employees with implants, medical devices, or foreign objects containing ferrous metals within their body (e.g., certain surgical implants, pacemakers, or metal pins) may be at risk and must disclose any such conditions to their supervisor prior to starting work.
To be successful in this role, you should have the following skills and experience:
  • Master's or PhD degree in relevant engineering or science discipline (PhD preferred)
