Position Summary
Texas Materials is seeking a safety-focused and dependable CDL Driver to transport construction materials, equipment, and supplies to and from company facilities, jobsites, and customer locations. The CDL Driver plays a critical role in supporting our operations by ensuring timely deliveries, maintaining equipment, and upholding the highest standards of safety, professionalism, and customer service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Safely operate commercial vehicles, including dump trucks, tractor-trailers, water trucks, or other assigned equipment.
  • Transport aggregates, asphalt, construction materials, and related products to jobsites and customer locations.
  • Conduct pre-trip, post-trip, and daily vehicle inspections to ensure equipment is in safe operating condition.
  • Comply with all DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, company, and customer safety regulations and policies.
  • Complete driver logs, inspection reports, delivery tickets, and other required documentation accurately and timely.
  • Secure loads and verify cargo is properly loaded and transported according to regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, supervisors, and jobsite personnel regarding schedules, deliveries, and operational needs.
  • Report vehicle defects, maintenance requirements, accidents, incidents, or safety concerns immediately.
  • Assist with loading, unloading, and other operational tasks as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and professional appearance of vehicles and equipment.
  • Provide excellent customer service while representing Texas Materials in a professional manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Required
  • Valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL), depending on equipment assignment.
  • Current DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate.
  • Acceptable driving record and ability to meet company and insurance requirements.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations and safe driving practices.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and overtime as needed.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.

Preferred
  • Previous experience in construction, asphalt, aggregate, or heavy materials transportation.
  • Endorsements as required by business needs.
  • Experience operating dump trucks, lowboys, tankers, or other specialized construction equipment.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit for extended periods while operating commercial vehicles.
  • Ability to regularly climb, bend, kneel, stoop, and reach.
  • Ability to enter and exit vehicles multiple times throughout the day.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, dust, and noise.

Work Environment
  • Construction sites, aggregate facilities, asphalt plants, and public roadways.
  • Exposure to moving machinery, traffic, dust, and varying weather conditions.
  • Safety-sensitive position requiring strict adherence to company safety standards and policies.
