Position Overview

The Employee Benefits Licensed Account Manager serves as a primary day to day contact for a portfolio of employee benefits clients, delivering high quality service and helping ensure a smooth experience across the full account lifecycle. This role is responsible for building strong client relationships, leading regular check ins, and resolving complex service matters related to claims, coverage, eligibility, and billing. The position also manages the renewal process from start to finish, including marketing new and renewal business to carriers, analyzing plan options, preparing benchmarking and proposal materials, and supporting producer and client strategy discussions.

This role also plays a key part in open enrollment, benefits administration, and compliance support. The Employee Benefits Licensed Account Manager coordinates open enrollment meetings and materials, updates benefits administration systems, and helps guide employee enrollment activity. In addition, the role supports clients with day to day compliance needs related to ACA, ERISA, and HIPAA, while maintaining accurate records of client interactions, policy changes, and contracts within agency management systems. The ideal candidate is organized, client focused, and experienced in balancing service execution, renewal strategy, and administrative accuracy in a fast paced employee benefits environment.

Job Title: Employee Benefits Licensed Account Manager

Location: The Woodlands, TX

Employment Type: Full-time hybrid, 3 days per week in office

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary contact for assigned employee benefits clients, building long term relationships through responsive service, regular check ins, and consistent follow through
  • Manage complex client service issues related to claims, eligibility, coverage, billing, plan changes, and carrier coordination, escalating when appropriate
  • Lead the renewal process from start to finish, including gathering updated census and underwriting information, coordinating marketing strategy, obtaining quotes, and managing timelines
  • Market new and renewal business to carrier partners, prepare complete submissions, analyze carrier proposals, and develop benchmarking reports and plan comparisons
  • Negotiate with insurance carriers and vendor partners to secure competitive rates, plan designs, and service solutions aligned to client needs
  • Prepare clear, accurate, and client ready proposals, quote comparisons, and renewal presentations for producer and client discussions
  • Coordinate open enrollment meetings, employee communication materials, and implementation checklists, while helping ensure a smooth enrollment experience for client employees
  • Update and maintain benefits administration platforms and related systems, including plan setup changes, employee enrollment support, eligibility updates, and terminations
  • Support compliance and plan administration by helping clients navigate ACA, ERISA, HIPAA, and other applicable employee benefits requirements, while staying current on legislative and regulatory developments
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and complete documentation of client interactions, policy and plan changes, service activity, and contracts within agency management systems and shared files
  • Partner closely with producers, carriers, vendor partners, and internal colleagues to protect retention, service quality, and client satisfaction
  • Help identify workflow improvements, reporting needs, and operational efficiencies that improve service delivery and account management consistency
Qualifications

Required

  • Current Life and Health Producer License in good standing
    3+ years of employee benefits, group health, or insurance agency account management experience preferred
  • Experience managing client relationships and servicing employee benefits accounts through renewals, marketing, and ongoing administration
  • Working knowledge of employee benefits plan structures, renewal workflows, carrier marketing practices, and service standards
  • Familiarity with claims, billing, eligibility, open enrollment, and benefits administration processes
  • Working knowledge of ACA, ERISA, HIPAA, and related employee benefits compliance requirements
    Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple accounts, deadlines, and priorities with accuracy
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain benefit options and service issues clearly and professionally
  • High attention to detail and commitment to documentation, compliance, and E&O controls
