Job description

The Ground Support Mechanic is responsible for support of highly sensitive HQ USAF operational plans and safe air transportation for Cabinet Members, senior military leaders, and visiting foreign dignitaries. Essential Responsibilities: * Inspects, repairs and maintains assigned AGE, used to support the transportation of Cabinet Members, and other high-ranking national and international dignitaries. * Dispatches AGE to the flightline to support flying operations and aircraft maintenance. * Uses maintenance instructions and technical data in the inspection, maintenance, and repair of assigned ground equipment. * Maintains hand and powered tools in an orderly manner. Completes maintenance data forms and makes Maintenance Information System (MIS) inputs. Assists in the training and direction of assigned personnel. * Practices good housekeeping, tool control, FOD awareness/prevention and safety at all times. * Shall perform other duties as assigned, to include TDY and travel. * Duties involve working with fuel, oils, lubricants, chemical cleaners, solutions and disposal of hazardous material and waste according to environment standards. * Must be able to work, day shift, second shift, third shift and/or weekend shifts as required. * Receives cross-utilization (CUT) training and is qualified to perform maintenance tasks associated within classification. Minimum Requirements: * A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED is required. * A working knowledge of powered AGE repair procedures is required. * Specialized courses in powered AGE maintenance are required. * Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English. * Two years of recent experience as a powered AGE mechanic or equivalent in powered AGE maintenance is required. * Section 608 Technician Universal Certification for refrigerant is highly desired. * Occasional lifting of objects weighing up to 50 pounds is required. * Normal color vision is required. * Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance: Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain the clearance. * Must be able to obtain and flightline driver's license. Preferred Qualifications: * Section 608 Technician Universal Certification for refrigerant is highly preferred.
