Forward Deployed Engineer

Invertops

Austin, TX • On-site

Job description

Forward deployed engineers are where Invertops meets the real world. You'll sit with plumbing, HVAC, and electrical operators, understand how their office actually runs, and make the product fit—without forking it.

This is a hybrid of engineering and customer empathy: you write code, but you also learn a trade business well enough to automate it responsibly.

What you'll do
  • Deploy Invertops into customer environments (on-prem and VPC) and integrate their existing field-service and accounting tools.
  • Tailor the bespoke ~20% of workflows, approval policies, and integrations to each customer.
  • Be the technical voice in the room during onboarding, security review, and go-live.
  • Feed real-world patterns back to the platform team so the standardized core keeps improving.
What we're looking for
  • 3+ years in software engineering, solutions engineering, or a forward-deployed role.
  • Strong communication—you can explain a boundary diagram to an owner and debug an integration the same afternoon.
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites in and around Texas.
  • Comfort with APIs, scripting, and reading other people's systems.
Nice to have
  • Familiarity with the trades or field-service software (ServiceTitan, Jobber, Housecall Pro).
  • Experience with customer-facing deployments in regulated or on-prem environments.
