Job description

AWS Marketplace and Partner Services (AMPS) connects millions of active customers with thousands of independent software vendors (ISVs), enabling them to discover, purchase, deploy, and manage cloud software. As our product surfaces expand to include chat-based AI and agentic experiences alongside traditional console workflows, we're looking for a Senior UX Designer who can design across all of them.
In this role, you'll own end-to-end UX design for key AMPS experiences, shaping how customers and partners interact with our platform whether through structured interfaces, conversational AI, or hybrid workflows. You'll lead design strategy, deliver solutions from concept through launch, and influence product direction across a portfolio that impacts how organizations buy and sell software on AWS.
Key job responsibilities
- Design complex buyer and partner journeys across procurement, licensing, deployment, and operations, determining the right modality (console, chat, agent, or hybrid) based on user context and task complexity
- Own end-to-end design for significant AMPS product areas spanning traditional web interfaces and AI-powered conversational experiences
- Lead design strategy and deliver solutions from concept through launch, using AI-assisted prototyping and vibe coding to compress the gap between idea and testable artifact
- Design chat-based and agentic AI experiences including dialogue flows, escalation patterns, transparency mechanisms, and failure states that keep users in control
- Influence product direction by identifying design opportunities, producing functional prototypes to validate assumptions, and shaping roadmaps with product and business leaders
- Define interaction patterns, design standards, and reusable frameworks that ensure quality and consistency across both graphical and conversational AMPS surfaces
- Drive cross-functional alignment through design reviews, live interactive demos, and presentations to senior leadership
- Evaluate AI-generated design and code output for accessibility, design system compliance, and interaction coherence
- Mentor and coach designers through critiques, pair design sessions, and craft guidance, including AI-augmented workflows and conversational design patterns
- Partner with engineering to ensure design intent is preserved through implementation across both traditional front-end and LLM-powered features
A day in the life
As a Senior UX Designer for AMPS, you'll own design for significant product areas: a major partner workflow, a buyer journey segment, a chat-based AI experience, or a critical platform capability that serves millions of customers and thousands of partners worldwide. On any given day, you might be leading a design sprint to explore how an AI agent should handle a complex seller task, presenting your experience strategy to product leadership, vibe-coding a working prototype to validate a procurement concept before the next review, or mentoring a designer through the nuances of designing trust and control into a conversational interface. You'll drive alignment across product, engineering, and business stakeholders while managing multiple work streams at different stages of maturity across both traditional UI and AI-powered surfaces.
You'll operate with autonomy to identify the right problems to solve, frame them clearly, and deliver solutions that raise the bar, whether that means a polished console workflow, a well-designed chat experience, or a functional prototype you built in an afternoon to move a decision forward. You must be responsive, flexible, and able to thrive within an open, collaborative environment while managing ambiguity and competing priorities at enterprise scale.
About the team
The AMPS UX team is a passionate group of designers and researchers dedicated to raising the bar on marketplace and enterprise B2B experiences. We work across the entire ecosystem, from buyer discovery and procurement to seller operations and partner enablement. Our creative work impacts millions of customers making critical software purchasing decisions and thousands of ISV partners building their businesses on AWS.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 7+ years of design experience
- Experience with best practices for User Interface Design, Information Architecture, and Interaction Design
- Experience owning end-to-end design for complex product areas from strategy through execution
- Experience leading design initiatives across cross-functional teams and driving alignment with product management, engineering, and business stakeholders
- Experience mentoring designers and raising the quality bar for a design team
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience designing for B2B, marketplace, e-commerce, or enterprise software products
- Experience defining and evolving design systems, interaction patterns, or experience frameworks
- Experience influencing product direction and presenting design strategies to senior leadership
- Experience working in fast-paced, agile development environments
- Knowledge of cloud services, SaaS platforms, or software procurement workflows
- Bachelor's degree or above in Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), or a related field
