The Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Pascal Mubenga, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the 2025-2026 School year for the position of:
AFTER SCHOOL MEDICAL LEAVE INSTRUCTORS

QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must be a current BPS instructional staff member and have earned a Bachelor's and/or Master's degree and have a New York State teaching certificate.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Medical Leave Instructors will work under the Supervisor of Student Support Services. The Supervisor as the educational leader of the program will assure compliance with State Education Law and Commissioner's Regulations. The assignment includes individual or small groups of students that require direct instruction due to hospitalization or student's diagnosed illness:
  • Provide students receiving approved medical leave home instruction with daily Instruction in grade-level coursework.
  • Instruct students with special needs according to their IEPs
  • Provide students receiving approved home instruction with grades and attendance each marking period
  • Where applicable, administer NYS Assessments and Exams
  • Provide instruction daily after school:
        • Grades K-6: 2 hours per day up to 10 hours total per week Mon. - Fri.
        • Grades 7-12: 3 hours per day up to 15 hours total per week Mon. - Fri

APPOINTMENT:
Appointments will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following the assessment of training, experience, credentials, and evaluation of service. BTF contractual agreement on seniority will be followed. Interviews may be conducted when deemed necessary.
