About This Role

Science Akadémeia is seeking a nurturing, reliable, and energetic Afterschool Care Teacher to supervise and engage preschool and early elementary-age students in our afterschool care program. The ideal candidate will be passionate about child development, have strong classroom management skills, and create a safe, structured, and fun environment aligned with our mission of providing high-quality, hands-on STEM education. Hours: Monday–Friday, approximately 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM


What You'll Do
Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise students during aftercare hours and ensure a safe, inclusive environment at all times.
  • Plan and facilitate age-appropriate enrichment activities ( play, art, games, quiet time).
  • Assist with snack distribution and maintain cleanliness of the classroom.
  • Support homework time or provide quiet reading/learning activities as needed.
  • Foster positive social-emotional development and conflict resolution.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records and communicate any incidents to the Director.
  • Collaborate with other team members and contribute to a positive staff culture.
  • Follow all licensing and safety procedures, including child pick-up protocols.

Requirements
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED required; CDA or early childhood education coursework is a plus..
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working with young children in a licensed childcare or educational setting.
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Must pass background check and fingerprinting.
  • Reliable, punctual, and professional demeanor.
  • Passion for working with children and commitment to Science Akadémeia’s mission.
