Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Power BI Developer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience building executive dashboards and reports from scratch, writing DAX and M queries, and integrating data from various sources. This role requires a strong analytical mindset, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to translate business requirements into effective data visualizations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and understand business requirements.
- Build data models and write DAX/M queries to support reporting needs.
- Optimize Power BI solutions for performance and usability.
- Integrate data from multiple sources including Excel, SharePoint, and cloud platforms.
- Implement row-level security and manage workspace permissions.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Power BI reports and data refreshes.
- Document processes, data models, and report logic for future reference.
Required Qualifications:
- Proven experience with Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, and Power Query.
- Proficiency in DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) and M (Power Query Formula Language).
- Experience building dashboards and reports from scratch.
- Solid understanding of data modeling concepts (e.g., star schema, normalization).
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established reporting standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1–3 years of hands-on experience with Power BI in a professional setting.
- Experience working with SQL Server, Excel, and SharePoint as data sources.
- Ability to create user-friendly dashboards for operations, finance, or customer service teams.
- Familiarity with Power Automate and Power Apps.
- Background in business analysis or data analytics.
- Experience integrating dashboards into web portals or internal tools.
- Ability to work with large datasets and optimize performance using aggregations or incremental refresh.
- Demonstrated ability to train end-users or create documentation for dashboard usage.
- Ability to explain complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders.
Bonus Criteria:
- Portfolio of past Power BI dashboards or reports.
- Certifications relevant to Power BI
- Portfolio showcasing past Power BI dashboards or reports.
- Certifications relevant to Power BI (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate).
- Familiarity with utility industry data such as energy usage, outage tracking, or customer metrics.
- Experience with GIS data and mapping visualizations in Power BI.
