Job description

About Biostate AI

Biostate AI is a biotechnology startup based in Houston, Texas, working at the intersection of RNA sequencing and artificial intelligence. We develop software for advanced data analysis and design scientific AI models that expand what is possible in the life sciences. As a small and ambitious team, we offer the opportunity to contribute meaningful work that ships quickly, reaches practicing scientists, and shapes the visual identity of the company. We take pride in our identity as a startup and are seeking individuals who are eager to join our mission.

Position Summary

Biostate AI is seeking a full-time Motion Graphics Designer to lead the visual presentation of the company and its products. The role spans three areas: producing marketing and advertising videos centered on our software, creating illustrations and interface assets for our applications, and implementing designs through AI-assisted front-end development. The position is well suited to a recent graduate seeking broad creative ownership within a small team.

Responsibilities

Video and Motion Graphics

  • Produce marketing and advertising videos centered on our software, including interface walkthroughs, animated feature promotions, and short-form advertisements (motion graphics and screen-based work; not live-action filming)
  • Adapt completed videos for LinkedIn, YouTube, X, the company website, and sales use

Design and Illustration

  • Create illustrations, backgrounds, icons, and other art assets for our applications and software
  • Contribute to UI/UX design for new screens and features
  • Maintain visual consistency across the product and brand as both grow

Front-End Implementation

  • Implement and prototype designs using AI-assisted development tools (such as Cursor or Claude Code), with support from the engineering team

Qualifications

  • Recent graduate in design, animation, film, or a related field
  • A portfolio demonstrating both motion or video work and illustration or visual design
  • Proficiency in Adobe After Effects (required), as well as a video editor such as Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve
  • Proficiency with tools such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, or Procreate
  • Front-end experience, or a demonstrated ability to build with AI-assisted development tools
  • Strong visual judgment, self-direction, and the ability to manage projects independently within a small team
  • Highly motivated and eager to take on impactful work in a fast-paced startup environment

Position Details

  • Full-time; on-site at our Houston, Texas office is preferred, and remote arrangements will be considered
