Job Summary

This role is primarily responsible to provide the necessary direction, resources and support to ensure that inspection and audit services meet the needs and requirements of the quality system and of the Quality and Production Departments

Required Education & Experience

  • Training in a quality-related field
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Good organizational, interpersonal and problem solving skills
  • 2 years of related experience or equivalent
  • Experience in an industrial fabrication and assembly environment
  • Good understanding of flat development and inspections methods, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance, Metrology, and Statistical Process Control fundamentals
  • Experience in an industrial metal fabrication and assembly environment
  • Excellent attendance
  • Desire to learn the business, understand the production process by walking the floor and participating in production meetings
  • Ability to work independently without supervision and with minimum direction
  • Ability to work in a team environment and be both a team player and team leader

Essential Functions

  • Must work in accordance with Health & Safety regulations, Martinrea Industrial Canada rules, policies and procedures.
  • Must use or wear equipment, protective devices or clothing as required by Martinrea Industrial Canada
  • Participate in the development and ensure full implementation of the ISO-9000 quality operating system.
  • Ensure that PPAP submissions are professional, thorough, on time and acceptable
  • Participate and interface with other departments on product realization activities.
  • Develop inspection methods and procedures for use on the shop floor that are user-friendly and accessible.
  • Identify key areas for inspection and control with inspection processes.
  • Identify and quantify quality improvements in process, materials and product.
  • Provide training to employees on ISO requirements and subsequent documentation (procedures, work instructions, forms).
  • Develop and maintain systems for the maintenance and calibration of metrological equipment.
  • Administratively support the initiatives of the Quality Manager, including data management and tracking.
  • Develop any necessary forms to ensure effective control of inspection processes with subsequent data to be provided for further analysis.
  • Provide information to the Quality Manager for use in management performance measurables review.
  • Utilize defect tracking reports and information (internally and customer generated) to drive continuous improvement on the inspection line.
  • Identify any and all issues that require corrective and/ or preventive action and ensure that subsequent actions are documented thoroughly and pursued through to completion.
  • Timely disposition of RMA's
  • Non-conforming parts in system
  • Abide by all Company polices including, but not limited to the following; Health and safety, Quality and Environmental Systems, Human Resources policies, and the Martinrea Employee Handbook
  • Must understand the six elements of the Quality System, Record Retention, Document Control, Non-conforming Material, Corrective Action, Preventative Action and internal audits as well as department procedures.
  • Demonstrate 5S Methodology in your work area

Work Environment

  • 50% Office environment, 50% Plant floor (PPE required)
  • Constant communication with employees, peers, and management
  • Overtime as required

Physical Demands

  • Ability to work on computer for long periods of time
  • Ability to be present on the production floor daily
  • Must be able to lift up to 35lbs.
  • Must be able to work with push pull forces of up to 50lbs. or less

  • Must use or wear equipment, protective devices or certain clothing as required by the company.
